Could the rash be caused by an allergic reaction?

Hello, I’ve been struggling with a rash on my face for a while. It is like acne breakouts red lumpsfrom which some strange discharge oozes from time to time. The rash itches a lot and sometimes even burns me. I wonder if this rash on the face can be caused Allergic reaction on the food you eat?

Generally, I have never had any major allergies, only occasionally had a rash on my face when I was a child after eating citrus. However, over the years, this allergic reaction has faded away. Importantly, I haven’t noticed that the rash appears after eating any particular food. Sometimes it appears after eating lunch, and sometimes, for example, after a salad with fruit. I would like to add that sometimes there is a rash on the face and neck.

I don’t know if this is important, but recently I also have a problem with hormones, is there anything related to the appearance of a rash on my face and hormones? I am asking for advice on where to look for the causes of the rash on my face. Should I start using any soothing preparations, medications, or consult a doctor first? How so with what?

The doctor explains whether the rash may be the result of an allergic reaction

An allergic reaction may be the cause of the rash in the area of the facial skin. Common causes are products of everyday use such as cosmetics (e.g. hair dyes, soaps – used even for many years!), But also jewelry, clothes and metal elements.

This is then called contact eczema or allergic contact dermatitis. This rash will go away on its own if you stop using the substance. First of all, there are some important questions to ask yourself:

1. Have I started / started using a new face, eyelash, fragrance? Some people may be allergic to ingredients contained in cosmetics.

2. Do I use tweezers or an eyelash curler? These devices may contain nickel, a metal that is a common cause of contact eczema. Even brief contact can cause unpleasant long-term symptoms.

3. Do I often rub my eyes? Indirect contact with an allergen (an example would be nickel again – this time with keys or a door handle, or an ingredient in hand cream!)

4. Do I use nail polish or false nails? These products can cause eczema on contact with the skin of the face – even if they do not cause allergies on the skin of the hands!

5. Do I have contact (even indirect, through a pillow, blanket) with perfumes or other ingredients that may sensitize me? Even washing liquid or fabric softener.

If, despite the use of the above-mentioned advice, the rash persists, there is severe itching or other disturbing symptoms, it is worth contacting your primary care physician. It can help find another cause of facial rash and prescribe symptomatic / causal treatment or, in case of failure, refer you to a dermatologist.

The indications for a visit to a specialist are also a great feeling of discomfort when the changes cause sleep problems or make it difficult to perform daily activities. In the differential diagnosis of facial lesions, non-allergic causes, such as rosacea or seborrheic dermatitis, may be considered.
