Varieties of cosmetics for pregnant women

Do not think that pregnant women need any special beauty products. It’s just that your usual set of cosmetics will change slightly. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • moisturizing cream with high SPF protection for the face;
  • nourishing hand cream;
  • body exfoliator;
  • thick body cream;
  • refreshing, anti-fatigue foot cream.

When pimples or pigmentation appear, as well as for their prevention, you will have to replenish your cosmetic arsenal a little more.

Take our test and find out which cream you need for daily care.

To cleanse the skin of the face

There is a chance that the usual washing gel is no longer suitable. Due to the change in the hormonal background, oily skin often approaches normal, and dry skin becomes even drier. When choosing a cleansing product, make sure that it does not contain the following components:

  • salicylic acid (in the composition it is listed as Salicylic acid, BHA, Beta hydroxy acid or BHA);
  • benzene;
  • phthalates (they are usually used as fragrances);
  • ethylene oxide, which has antimicrobial properties.

These substances are not recommended for pregnant women.

Against stretch marks (striae)

Use anti-stretch marks from the 12th week of pregnancy, when the belly begins to grow, and the skin begins to lose elasticity and stretch.

There is an opinion that there will be no stretch marks if you do not get better. This is not entirely true: stretch marks can also appear with a small weight in response to changes in the hormonal background. Harbingers of striae are severe itching and peeling. Then lilac-gray scars appear, which turn white over time.

The best choice for expectant mothers is a special milk, cream or gel for stretch marks. Just a cream with a dense texture or a balm will do. Well, if it contains:

  • shea butter or jojoba oil: unlike rose, mint, chamomile, oregano, nutmeg and fennel oils, they are less likely to cause allergic reactions;
  • amino acids that accelerate cell renewal;
  • collagen to repair damaged tissues.

For legs

The load on the legs (and veins) increases every month, and remedies for heaviness in the legs and for the prevention of varicose veins can be a real salvation.

A nourishing foot cream, and creams for corns and corns will come in handy. The more comfortable the legs, the more pleasant (and longer) the outdoor walks will be, which are very beneficial.

For chest

Often the breast is the first signal of pregnancy – it swells and enlarges. And since the mammary glands do not have muscles in their structure, the ligaments begin to stretch. And if measures are not taken in time, the breasts can lose their shape and sag.

“In addition to choosing a good bra that correctly distributes the load, it is recommended to strengthen the skin of the chest, says Biotherm brand expert in Russia Elena Alekseeva. – Products with vitamins A and E, moisturizing ingredients, seaweed extracts will help with this.”

During pregnancy, the set of care products may differ from what you had before.

The choice of cosmetics for pregnant women

Many experts advise expectant mothers to use cosmetics with natural ingredients. But be careful: during pregnancy, the skin becomes more sensitive and reactive, irritation, redness, itching may appear.

Composition

It is best to buy special cosmetics for pregnant women – it is the safest and most effective. But if for some reason you can’t choose a special tool (for example, you don’t like the smell or consistency), be guided by the following parameters:

  • a small list of ingredients: the fewer of them, the lower the likelihood of allergies;
  • the absence of dangerous components: for example, a frequent companion of tanning products – dihydroxyacetone, or bergamot, which can cause irritation;
  • short shelf life (optimally – 6 months).

Start using stretch mark remedies from the 12th week of pregnancy, when the skin begins to lose elasticity and stretch.

The use of cosmetics

What are the rules for using cosmetics during pregnancy?

  • Do not layer cosmetics. Firstly, the skin does not need an extra load, and secondly, if a reaction appears, you won’t understand what it is.
  • Test each new product on a small patch of skin first.
  • Minimize the set of decorative cosmetics. If possible, use foundation less often (it is better to pay attention to care products with a tinting effect), powder, shadows.

Hypoallergenic mascara, lipstick or lip gloss is your maximum program.

  • Use the stretch mark remedy from the 12th week until the end of pregnancy. Apply it 2 times a day after a shower, gently rubbing into the skin. Do not end the application, even if it seems that there will be no more striae.

  • Facial products (moisturizing or nourishing cream, cleansing products) can be used 2 times a day – in the morning and in the evening.
  • Venotonics (remedies for heaviness in the legs and for the prevention of varicose veins) apply 1-2 times a day. If there is a predisposition to varicose veins or spider veins, start using them from the 12th week of pregnancy. If not, in the third trimester, when you feel heaviness in your legs.
  • If comedones and inflammatory elements appear, contact a beautician so that a specialist can choose an effective and safe remedy.
