From June 17, the number of new cases of coronavirus infection began to decline. And although it is too early to say that the epidemic is dying out, Poles do not seem to remember that the virus is still circulating and is still dangerous.

Coronavirus in Poland – downward trend

Looking at the infection curve in Poland, one gets the impression that the epidemic is actually beginning to slow down.

On June 17, the health ministry informed about 506 new infections, but in the following days the announcements were more optimistic – there were about 200-300 new cases of COVID-19 daily.

You can also see that more and more people are cured. In total, almost 21 thousand. patients overcame the disease.

A hopeful trend can also be seen in the graph showing the number of active cases. There have been fewer and fewer of them for several days.

Are these really reasons for joy and carefree approach to the subject?

Is the coronavirus epidemic in Poland going away?

Looking at the behavior of Poles in recent weeks, one can get the impression that nobody cares about the virus anymore. In stores, more and more customers do not comply with the order to cover their mouths and nose, crowds of tourists have appeared on the beaches and mountain paths, who do not keep their distance. Weddings, communions and family celebrations are already taking place. Unfortunately, many of them have the so-called outbreaks of infections.

Experts warn that local outbreaks may be the biggest problem. And one that won’t be over in a few weeks. As Prof. Andrzej Bednarek from the Medical University of Lodz, you have to be prepared for the fact that the health crisis will last a long time:

– The epidemic will accompany us and for at least the next year we will be exposed to foci or environmental outbreaks of infections, as it was in Silesia, and now it is in the Łódź Province. The threat of local, environmental increases in infection will not start to diminish until August and September next year.

  4. On June 26, the world’s most new COVID-19 cases were registered since the outbreak began more than six months ago – almost 200 were added in one day infections!
  1. We can talk about the extinction of the epidemic when the virus reproduction rate is less than 1. In Poland it is currently 1,11

And now each of us can answer the question whether the coronavirus is over … Let the graphic be summed up by Andrzej Rysuje for Gazeta Wyborcza:
