On March 27, 2022, the Ministry of Health informed about 3 494 new cases of coronavirus infection. Seven people have died due to COVID-19. While Europe is experiencing successive increases in infections, a decision has been made in Poland to almost completely lift the restrictions. From March 7, the obligation to wear masks (except for medical entities), home isolation and quarantine will disappear.

We have 3494 (including 323 re-infections) confirmed cases of coronavirus infection from the following voivodeships: Mazowieckie (675), Wielkopolskie (310), Dolnośląskie (304), Śląskie (286), Lubelskie (275), Małopolskie (272), Zachodniopomorskie (245) , Pomeranian (239), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (186), Łódzkie (155), Lubuskie (135), Podkarpacie (99), Warmian-Masurian (91), Opole (64), Podlasie (63), Świętokrzyskie (60). 35 infections are data without specifying an address, which will be supplemented by the sanitary inspection.
1 person died from COVID-19, 6 people died from coexistence of COVID-19 with other conditions.

The latest data from the Ministry of Health show that there are currently 5 in hospitals. 347 patients. This is 566 people less than yesterday. A week ago, on March 20, there were 6 occupied hospital beds. 669. Currently, the bed base for COVID-19 patients is 14 thousand. 879.
How many sick people need help with breathing? Currently 340 ventilators are occupied (21 less than yesterday). A week ago, on March 20, 413 patients used a ventilator. The number of ventilators dedicated to COVID-19 patients is currently 1333.
On March 28, we take off our masks. Who shouldn’t do this?
As announced by the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski during last week’s conference, on March 28, the obligation to cover the mouth and nose in closed rooms (excluding healthcare entities) will be abolished. The isolation of people with positive test results and quarantine for those waiting for the test and coming from abroad will also cease to apply.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that the lack of the obligation to wear the mask was not synonymous with the fact that, in his opinion, they should not be used anymore.
For the safety of oneself and others, from March 28, the following should not resign from covering the mouth and nose:
- people with flu or cold symptoms
- people with reduced immunity
- caregivers and cohabitants of chronically ill people
- seniors
- unvaccinated
- service sector workers
- people fearing coronavirus infection

Will the lifting of the obligation to use masks have any consequences? According to the virologist prof. Włodzimierz Gut, it depends on our behavior. “I always say that it is not variants or sub-variants that are dangerous, but people’s behavior.”
