What About Cancer Patients During the Pandemic? It turns out that even half of the planned medical procedures are postponed or canceled. Only the most urgent procedures and operations are performed. The seriously ill are afraid of what will happen next. Joanna Frątczak-Kazana from the Alivia Foundation spoke about the situation of oncological patients in Onet Rano.

Oncological treatment during the coronavirus epidemic

For safety reasons, hospitals all over Poland limit the number of admissions, and postpone or cancel scheduled procedures. The Alivia Foundation collects information from patients with oncological diseases. They show that up to half of the operations and other medical procedures are not performed. The facilities only perform the most urgent procedures.

Joanna Frątczak-Kazana in the Onet Morning program said that even 70 percent of there are shortages of staff in medical facilities. The expert fears that when the epidemiological situation in the country normalizes, cancer hospitals will have a serious problem with a large number of necessary procedures and patients who will have to be examined, as currently diagnosis is carried out to a very limited extent.
