Coronal is a beta-blocker drug whose main task is to lower blood pressure. However, there are a number of precautions when using it. For this reason, we decided to check what are the main contraindications in the case of Coronalem treatment.
Coronal – how does it work?
Coronal is used in the case of hypertension. It reduces symptoms such as migraines, dizziness, muscle spasms, palpitations, visual disturbances and increased sweating. In addition, coronal is given to patients who suffer from angina characterized by pressure under the breastbone. Beta-blocker inhibits the symptoms of the disease, which include: abdominal pain, fatigue and nausea.
Coronal – composition
The main active ingredient of Coronal is bisoprolol. The substance belongs to a group of beta-blockers, also known as beta-blockers. Their main job is to block the receptors that release adrenaline and norepinephrine. Beta-blockers inhibit the action of the hormone. As a result, Coronal reduces the heart rate, including the strength of its contractions.
Coronal – dosage
Coronal is available from the pharmacy as film-coated tablets to be taken orally, preferably in the morning with a glass of water. The daily dose suggested by the attending physician must not be exceeded. In adults who have high blood pressure or ischemic heart disease, the usual dose is 5-10 mg once a day. The maximum dose prescribed by your doctor is 20 mg.
Patients with kidney problems must not take more than 10 mg Coronal a day. Treatment with a beta-blocker takes a long time. You must not stop taking the drug straight away as the symptoms of your disease may worsen. Coronal should be discontinued gradually after consulting a cardiologist.
Coronal – contraindications
There are a number of contraindications when using Coronal. The most common are:
- hypersensitivity to any of the substances;
- acute heart failure;
- cardiogenic shock;
- sick sinus syndrome;
- sinoatrial block;
- second or third degree atrioventricular block;
- arterial hypotension;
- metabolic acidosis;
- severe bronchial asthma;
- bradycardia;
- Raynaud’s syndrome;
- untreated phaeochromocytoma.
Moreover, Coronal should not be taken by pregnant women and nursing mothers. Bisprolol may have a negative effect on the development of the fetus and the newborn. It is also not recommended to combine Coronal with MAO inhibitors, clonidine and calcium antagonists.
Coronal – precautions
Precautions are also recommended when using Coronal. They usually affect patients who:
- have diabetes;
- suffer from vasospastic angina;
- have a strict diet.
Prior to the operation, people who will be given general anesthesia should inform the anaesthesiologist that they are taking Coronal. Medical supervision is also essential during desensitisation treatment, as bisprolol may aggravate allergy symptoms.
Coronal – cena
The price of Coronal varies depending on the packaging. In the pharmaceutical market, you can get Coronal 30 coated tablets which contain 5 mg of bisprolol each. The price after the refund is PLN 3,20, excluding – PLN 6,51. Packages containing 60 tablets (10 mg of bispropol each) cost 3,20 after reimbursement, without – 11,57 PLN.
