Corn Noah: variety description

Corn Noah: variety description

Super sweet corn “Noa” was bred by Dutch breeders without the use of genetic engineering and is successfully grown in central Russia. This hybrid is unpretentious, but requires a special approach that will allow you to harvest a good harvest once or twice a year.

The variety is suitable for cooking and preservation. It has an ear of a regular cylindrical shape, 20 cm long and 5 cm in diameter. Large and juicy grains of a beautiful bright yellow color are tightly packed to a depth of 12 mm and form 16 to 18 rows. The cob weight is about 430 g. The taste is pleasant, experts estimate it at 4 points. The cereal contains vitamins and minerals necessary for humans.

The ears of Noah corn are dense and beautiful

The plant is tall enough. It grows up to two meters, has about 10 leaves, and cobs are formed at a height of 70 cm. The seedlings take root well, pollinate even under unfavorable conditions. The variety is resistant to helminthosporiosis and tolerant to bacterial wilt.

The variety ripens quickly. From sowing to ripening, a little over 70 days pass. This allows you to get an early harvest or grow corn after the wheat is harvested. The yield in our climatic zone is 22 tons per hectare. The harvest period lasts over a month.

This is a variety with a fairly simple growing technology, disease resistance, high yield. To make the most of the benefits of this cereal, several conditions must be met:

  • Sowing time. For this hybrid, it is important to choose the right planting time. A mistake of several weeks will lead to a decrease in yield several times. It is best to sow corn in April-May, when the ground warms up to 10 ° C.
  • Site preparation. This plant does not grow well in shaded areas. For him, it is better to choose an area where tomatoes, beans or melons grew before. The soil must be fertilized with organic matter, superphosphate and potassium salt, if necessary, reduce acidity by adding lime.
  • Sowing. The seeds should be kept at 35 ° C for a week to warm them up. It is not necessary to germinate them. Make holes 5 cm deep at a distance of 35 cm from each other, water before placing the seeds.
  • Growing seedlings. If you want to get ripe corn early, you can sow it in peat pots in April. Take seedlings outside regularly to harden them, and plant them in the garden 20 days after sowing.

The characteristics of the variety are excellent, but it is impossible to grow full-fledged seeds on your own. They need to be purchased again from certified vendors every year, or the plant will not inherit the maternal properties.

Such corn is well suited for industrial and private cultivation. Plant it in several batches, taking a week off, and you will be provided with young sweet corn for a long time.
