Supraventricular and nodal tachycardia called paroxysmal supraventricular tachyarrhythmias can also be minimized by using Cordarone when other medications are not tolerated by the patient.

Cordarone – composition

The main active ingredient of Cordarone is amiodarone (amiodarani hydrochloridum). Usually, this is the first time patients receive this substance in hospital so that the doctor can see the response to its use. Then, the person to whom the drug with amiodarone was prescribed is under the constant care of a cardiologist. The substance reduces the activity within the atria and ventricles of the heart without having a direct effect on intraventricular conduction.

Cordarone – action

Cordarone with the active substance amiodarone hydrochloride in the composition significantly extends the duration of the action potential, as well as the refractory period in the heart cells. This process translates into a reduced need for the heart to use oxygen. Thus, the heart rate drops and the patient feels no discomfort in the chest.
