Copyrin of warning
- If symptoms worsen within 3-5 days or do not improve, see your doctor.
- The drug should be taken after meals, orally and drunk with plenty of liquid.
- People allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (especially those with coagulation disorders) should be especially careful when taking anticoagulants together, e.g. coumarin derivatives, heparins, antiplatelet drugs, antivitamins K.
- Patients with impaired liver and kidney function who have a history of peptic ulcer disease and gastrointestinal bleeding should be especially careful.
- People with a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase must exercise caution.
- It should be remembered that acetylsalicylic acid can cause bronchospasm and induce asthma attacks or other hypersensitivity reactions (patients with bronchial asthma, chronic respiratory diseases, hay fever, nasal polyps and other skin reactions are particularly at risk).
- You should stop taking the drug at least 5 days before surgery and inform your doctor that you are taking it.
- The drug can cause gout in patients who have problems with low uric acid excretion.
- Female fertility may be impaired while taking the drug.
- With side effects, caution should be exercised while driving.
Copirin and other drugs
Acetylsalicylic acid contained in the drug Copyrin increases:
- the toxic effects of methotrexate, the effect of anticoagulants (e.g. coumarin derivatives, heparin), thrombolytic drugs (dissolving the clot, e.g. streptokinase, urokinase) and inhibiting platelet aggregation (clumping) (e.g. ticlopidine), which may lead to an increased risk of prolonged bleeding time and hemorrhages,
- increases the risk of ulcer disease and gastrointestinal bleeding if it is used concomitantly with corticosteroids, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including other high-dose salicylates, or if alcohol is consumed during treatment,
- If you stop taking systemic corticosteroids (except hydrocortisone used as replacement therapy in Addison’s disease) there is an increased risk of salicylate overdose.
The drug may increase the effect;
- digoxin – its plasma concentration increases,
- anti-diabetic drugs (e.g. insulin, sulfonylureas),
- the toxic effects of valproic acid-valproic acid may, on the other hand, increase the anti-aggregating effect of acetylsalicylic acid).
Acetylsalicylic acid reduces the effect:
- medicines for the treatment of gout, which increase the excretion of uric acid from the body, which can worsen the symptoms of gout;
- diuretics;
- some antihypertensive drugs (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, e.g. captopril, enalapril).
Copirin and side effects
When using Copyrin,
There may be: indigestion symptoms (heartburn, nausea, vomiting), abdominal pain, rarely inflammation of the stomach and intestines; potentially life-threatening gastrointestinal bleeding: overt (fuzzy vomiting, tarry stools) or latent (bleeding occurs more often the higher the dose); gastric and / or duodenal ulcer, perforation. Alcohol can increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
They may appear: hypersensitivity reactions with clinical symptoms and abnormal results of appropriate laboratory tests such as: asthma, mild to moderate reactions involving the skin, respiratory system, cardiovascular system with symptoms such as rash, urticaria, edema (including angioedema), respiratory and work disorders and rarely severe reactions including anaphylactic shock. Caffeine can cause insomnia, anxiety, tachycardia, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
