Microsoft Office 2010 allows you to customize Tape и Quick Access Toolbar just the way you need it, easily collecting all frequently used commands in one place. It’s just as easy to back up your customized Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar.
We’ve already shown you how to create a custom tab in Office 2010 applications. Now we’ll show you how you can save your Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar preferences to a file that you can later transfer to Office 2010 on any other computer.
You can only save the Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar settings individually for each Office 2010 application. In this example, we are saving the settings for Word. The same sequence of steps works for any other Office application.
First of all, we will upload the customized Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar to a file. In Word 2010 (or another Office application), click the Fillet (File) and click Options (Options).
On the left side of the dialog box Word Options (Word Options) click Customize Ribbon (Customize Ribbon).
In this menu, you can also select Quick Access Toolbar (Quick Access Toolbar). You can export settings through any of these two sections, in any case, the settings for both the Ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar will be saved.
In the lower right corner of the window Customize Ribbon (Customize Ribbon) there are two drop down lists. Click the dropdown Import / Export (Import and Export) and select Export all customizations (Export all settings).
In the dialog box File Save (Save File) Select a folder to save the settings file. In field File name (File name) enter a name for the file using the extension .exportedUI, which is selected by default. Click Save (Save).
Now you can copy the created file .exportedUI to a USB flash drive or external hard drive and transfer it to any other computer or use it on the same computer, for example, after reinstalling Office 2010.
To import settings into the application, open the tab again Fillet (File) and click Options (Parameters) as we did earlier. In the dialog box Word Options (Word Options) select Customize Ribbon (Customize Ribbon) or Quick Access Toolbar (Quick Access Toolbar). Click the dropdown Import / Export (Import and Export) in the lower right corner of the dialog box and select Import customization file (Import settings file).
When you upload a file with settings for the Ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar, all previous settings will be lost. If you feel that the current settings may still be useful to you, save them to a separate file before loading another set of settings.
In the dialog box File Open (File Open) open the folder containing your Office preferences file (.exportedUI), select it and click Open (Open).
A dialog box will open asking if you really want to replace the existing Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar. If you are ready to download new settings, click Yes (Yes). If you want to save the current settings in advance, press No (No) and follow the steps above.
To close the dialog Word Options (Word Options), click OK or Cancel (Cancel). If you have made any changes in other sections of the settings and want to save them, then do not forget to click OK.
Follow the same procedure in the rest of the Office 2010 applications so that you can use the same settings in all applications and thus make your work more productive.
