Microsoft Word allows you to copy text and paste it anywhere else in your document. In some cases, this helps save a lot of time. If there is a piece of text that needs to be moved from one area to another, it can be cut and pasted or simply dragged with the mouse. How to copy and paste text
When copying, the text is saved to the clipboard.
- Highlight the text you want to copy.
- Push command Copy tab Home. You can also copy the selected text by right-clicking and selecting Copy from the context menu that appears.
- Place the cursor where you want to insert text.
- Press Insert tab Home.
- The copied text will appear.
How to cut and paste text
- Select the text to be cut.
- Push command Cut out tab Home. You can also cut selected text by right-clicking and selecting Cut out from the context menu that appears.
- Place the cursor where you want to insert text.
- Press Insert tab Home. The cut text will appear.
You can cut, copy and paste text using keyboard shortcuts. Click Ctrl + Xto cut, Ctrl + Cto copy, and Ctrl + Vto paste.
You can cut, copy and paste text with the right mouse click, choosing the desired action from the context menu. When pasting text in this way, you can choose from three pasting options that determine how the text is formatted: Keep original formatting, Merge Formatting и Keep text only. You can move the mouse over the required icon to get information about the assignment of the command.
Dragging text
process drag-and-drop (drag and drop) lets you use the mouse to move text.
- Select the text to be moved.
- Press and hold the left mouse button, and then drag the text to where you want to paste it. A rectangle icon appears below the cursor to indicate that you are wrapping text.
- Release the left mouse button, the text will move.
If the text does not appear at the specified location, you can press the key Enter on the keyboard to move the text to a new line.
