Many Excel fans face this challenge sooner or later. The data on a sheet can be arranged vertically or horizontally, but at times you will notice that this or that table would look better if the columns and rows were reversed.
We present to your attention a trick with which you can change the layout of data in Excel according to your needs. Let’s take the following steps together and arrange the data in the table as two horizontal rows.
The whole secret is in a special insert
- First of all, select the table with the data you need to rotate. Right-click and in the context menu that appears, click the command Copy (Copy).
- Next, select the position where the new table should be located. Right-click on the upper left cell of this area and in the menu that appears, select the command Transpose (Transpose).
- If you did not find the command icon in the menu that appears Transpose (Transpose), you can use the command paste Special (Special insert).
- In this case, a dialog box will open. paste Special (Special insert). Check the required parameters, and most importantly – do not forget to check the box next to the option Transpose (Transpose).
Tip: If you copy relative-linked cells with no referenced cells, the links will become invalid. To avoid this, only copy and paste values when converting rows to columns or vice versa. To do this, check the option Values (Values) in the section paste (Insert) dialog box paste Special (Special insert).
Enjoy the result
Your data will be accurately and easily transposed and reordered. In reverse, this technique works just as well.
I hope this method is helpful. Have a nice day!
