Consequences of sore throat during pregnancy for mother and child
The consequences of a sore throat during pregnancy can be dangerous for the mother and baby. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the symptoms of the disease in time and start treatment.
Why is angina dangerous for pregnant women?
A persistent feeling of fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, a reddened and sore throat, a high fever are all clear signs of a sore throat.
If sore throat is not treated during pregnancy, the consequences of this disease are dangerous at any time. So, in the first trimester, the disease can result in the following results:
- severely tolerated toxicosis;
- hyperthermia and, as a result, placental abruption;
- deviations in the formation of the internal organs of the fetus;
- risk of miscarriage;
- violation of blood circulation in the uterus.
If a woman becomes infected with a sore throat at a later date, the disease can lead to a weakening of labor. Due to the fact that during this period the body has little strength to fight the infection, in some cases, angina leads to such pathologies in the mother:
- meningitis;
- myocarditis;
- heart failure;
- intoxication;
- kidney inflammation;
- infectious polyarthritis;
- pneumonia;
- rheumatism.
At any stage of pregnancy, angina can be transmitted to the unborn child and lead to the death of the fetus.
How to treat angina during pregnancy?
You cannot independently treat angina during pregnancy, the consequences of improper treatment may be no better than from the disease itself. Only a doctor should prescribe drugs.
So, in the treatment of angina during pregnancy, the traditional use of antibiotics is undesirable, due to the possible side effects for the child. Even taking ordinary aspirin can negatively affect the development of the fetus. It is better for a pregnant woman to refuse treatment with folk remedies, which can have an unpredictable effect.
A woman, in order to speed up her recovery, needs to follow these rules:
- eat, even against desire;
- consume a lot of liquid as food and drink;
- lie in a warm bed as much as possible;
- gargle;
- do not take hot baths and do not soar your feet;
- do not insulate the throat with scarves and compresses;
- lower the temperature by applying a towel dipped in cool water to your forehead;
- take vitamins for pregnant women.
In order not to be afraid of the consequences of angina and not to worry about your well-being and the health of the unborn child, during pregnancy it is better to avoid crowded places, ventilate the living room and humidify the air in it.
