Everyone has heard about healthy eating, a balanced diet, and frequent drinking of water. In theory, we know how to eat, but we are not always aware of the impact of diet on our health – even the one that seems to be healthy in theory. One of the difficulties is a diet that is inappropriate to our needs. Another is diseases and ailments that are the result of poor nutrition or make the diet fail. So how to eat consciously?
Why is a healthy diet not everything?
A healthy diet is a general term that, unfortunately, does not correspond to a specific menu suitable for everyone. Conscious eating is not only about combining different foods, excluding processed foods, or eating meals at regular intervals. Not all diets that are good for one person will be appropriate for another. It is therefore important to remember about the individual needs and limitations of the organism. We may not know about some of them, so the first step to consciously eating is getting to know your body.
Individual diet adjustment requires knowledge about the body’s needs for individual nutrients, deficiencies resulting from the current diet, food intolerances or diet-related diseases (e.g. diabetes). The starting point therefore seems to be visit to a dietitian. This solution is good not only for people who see problems clearly resulting from improper nutrition, plan to lose weight or need a safe diet for a specific disease. A dietitian will also help people who want to approach healthy eating wisely.
Do you want to eat consciously? Take care of your health and consult your diet with a specialist dietitian:
Are you planning a dietary consultation? Test yourself first
If you plan to visit a dietitian, remember that a specialist will depend on accurate information about your health. It is important as it is on the basis of an interview that a dietitian will be able to determine what changes in the diet will be safe and will not harm you. They come here to help tests that are worth doing before a dietary consultation – then, during the interview, it will be possible to discuss the results and go to the heart of the visit.
Diet is not working? Get tested – you can order blood sampling at home.
An appropriate set of blood tests will allow you to identify iron or vitamin D deficiencies, as well as assess the efficiency of the kidneys and liver, detect inflammation, rule out thyroid diseases, check the level of electrolytes, lipids, and hormones and proteins important for general health. These elements may be important in the context of a diet, but also indicate the causes of malaise or problems with weight loss.
You can perform blood analysis before visiting a dietitian without going to the collection point. Taking blood at home by a nurse is a way to avoid queues, as well as a solution for those who are short of time, have a difficult access or for other reasons prefer a home study:
- Avoid queues – do a blood test before consulting a dietitian without leaving your home (from PLN 440)
You have no strength and you feel bad? It could be anemia
Symptoms such as fatigue, pale skin, malaise and dizziness are just some of the symptoms that may indicate anemia. The disease may be the result of iron, folic acid or vitamin B12 deficiency, as well as chronic diseases. Therefore, we can contribute to anemia by following a diet that is too low in some nutrients. It is therefore worth checking the level of iron and the above-mentioned vitamins, as well as performing a complete blood count, ESR and ferritin measurements.
If you want to be tested for anemia in order to properly modify your diet, start supplementation or assess your health, you can order a test at home:
- Perform an anemia test package without leaving home (from PLN 180)
Research for vegans and vegetarians
Eating a vegan or vegetarian diet has many health benefits, but it can also promote deficiencies. A slight imbalance between the various components of the diet is enough for the body to feel some deficiencies. For this reason, vegans and vegetarians are advised to exercise annual preventive examinations. What blood test parameters are worth assessing? First of all, let’s remember about:
- complete morphology,
- iron levels,
- vitamin B12,
- vitamin D,
- total calcium,
- electrolytes,
- glucose,
- homocysteinie,
- ferritin,
- albumin,
- total protein.
A vegetarian or vegan diet can provide energy and essential nutrients, but must be varied and carefully structured. Check how your body reacts to it and whether your menu is missing anything:

Conscious eating – other research worth doing
Conscious eating is not only about good dietary habits, but also using the help of specialists when the need arises. Any doubts regarding the diet will be dispelled by a dietitian – we do not have to plan travel and a personal visit, because online consultations are also available.
If we have a problem with adjusting the menu to our needs, a specialist will help to write the right one nutritional plan for the whole week. If you feel worse, remember about preventive examinations for shortages – they can rule out nutritional deficiencies or encourage further diagnosis.
