The psychological attitude of parents affects the well-being of a sick child, enhancing the effect of taking medications, – such a conclusion was made by the American pediatrician Jackie Clinch (Jacqui Clinch), comparing the effect of two painkillers – paracetamol and nurofen. The latter proved to be more effective despite the reduced dose. In the course of a survey of parents, it turned out that they had more confidence in the “advertised” medicine and were confident that the condition of their children would certainly improve. Calmness and positive emotions of adults were transferred to small patients, helping them to cope with the disease. Dr. Clinch presented the results of the study at the International Pediatric Symposium in Vancouver (Canada). In a word, every medicine needs a catalyst – confidence in its healing effect.
