American experts defended the “junk” food – carbonated drinks, sweets, fast food. They have raised the entire archive of research conducted in this area over the past few years. On the basis of them, the experts rehabilitated the “harmful” food. And they said that the reasons that gave rise to the obesity epidemic in the country are not related to the use of fast food. They are not to be found in McDonald’s.
Scientists looked for a link between people’s BMI (their body mass index) and regular consumption of hamburgers, sodas, or sweets. Their observations showed that this connection is present, but not in all people. A small fraction of Americans suffer from junk products. This includes obese people. Or, on the contrary, too little weight (anorexia). All other residents of the country gain weight for other reasons. “If doctors want to fight global obesity in the country,” experts commented on the results of the research, “they should look for the causes of obesity not in fast food, but in the whole diet as a whole.”
In addition, they noted that during the survey, women and men who weighed from 56 kg to 140 were in sight. And they all ate the same. Each had fizzy drinks, sweets and burgers on the menu. But the weight of some throughout life remained normal, while the weight of others grew by leaps and bounds. The latter were in the minority – only 5%. And this suggests that in the obesity epidemic that has seized the United States, it is not fast food that is to blame, but the level of activity of people and the entire diet in general.
