Conditions for growing peanuts in the open field
Growing peanuts is an interesting activity for lovers of this peanut. You can get a crop not only in the open field, but also at home, on the windowsill. To do this, you need to know a few rules and follow them.
Planting and growing peanuts outdoors
You can use purchased seeds for planting. First, they need to be prepared for planting. To do this, place the seeds for 15 minutes. in a light solution of potassium permanganate, rinse under running water and leave for 10 days in water for germination.
When white sprouts appear, take them out to the balcony or to another room with a temperature of about 3 ° C during the day. This is necessary for hardening. Bring them into your apartment or house at night. In a few days they will be ready for planting in the garden.
This is done at the end of May at a temperature of at least 20 ° C, when the soil warms up. This is how it works:
- Choose a sunny and warm place for planting. It is advisable to plant peanuts where tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage or potatoes used to grow.
- Dig up the soil in the fall and add humus to it. In the spring, you will need to dig up the earth shallowly again and add nitrophosphate.
- Make holes 10 cm deep, 50 cm apart from each other. Leave about 30 cm between the rows.
- Place 3 large seeds in the holes, close up the garden and pour water over it.
This completes the planting process. In the future, it is important to properly care for the plant: water the beds with warm water when the topsoil dries up. Weed and loosen the soil.
When the seedlings grow up to 10 cm, feed them. Add ammonium nitrate, potassium salt, superphosphate to the ground and sprinkle with water. Apply fertilizer a second time in the fall, during the fruiting period
After the ovaries begin to tilt towards the ground, spud the shrub 3 times a month using moist and loose soil. Instead of the first hilling, you can make a layer of sawdust or sand (5 cm).
Caring for peanuts is easy. If properly planted and cared for in mid-September, you will be able to taste the ripe harvest from your own beds.
Conditions for growing peanuts at home
If the climatic conditions do not allow growing peanuts on the site, then this can be done on the windowsill.
To do this:
- Soak the seeds for 12 hours in water with a drop of Epin for germination. After this time, small shoots should appear.
- Fill the planting container or other wide container with loose soil, sand, and humus.
- Sow seeds in the soil.
- Place the container in a warm, draft-free place and wait for shoots to emerge. Remember to water the ground periodically.
After about 30 days, flowering will begin, after which the flowers will replace the ovaries. They will go into the soil, where they form fruits. After 1,5-2 months, the leaves will begin to turn yellow, which means that the peanut beans are ripe.
Choose the right way to plant and grow peanuts and enjoy the flavor.
