Condensation on the walls of the refrigerator Samsung, Atlant, causes

When you open the door, do you find that condensation forms on the walls of the refrigerator? Is there water under the drawers? If you removed the water, but after a while it reappeared, you need to look for the cause of the problem. Normally, there should be no liquid under the fruit boxes, but this does not mean that a serious breakdown has occurred. You need to inspect and check some parts of the refrigerator.

Consider the reasons why condensate accumulates in the chamber.

Type of refrigeration equipment

Most users tend to replace old refrigerators with appliances with the No Frost system. Drip refrigerators have to be constantly defrosted because snow and ice interfere with normal operation.

The appearance of condensation on the back wall may indicate a drip type of defrosting. In this case, the formation of moisture is considered the norm. To find the problem, determine what type of defrost is installed in your refrigerator.

Drip system

Such refrigerators are equipped with an evaporator for cooling – it is located behind the back wall. When the motor-compressor is running, the cooling process begins. As a result, the evaporator and part of the wall where it is located are covered with snow or frost. The condensate in the refrigerator freezes. After turning off the motor, the temperature in the chamber becomes higher, so drops of moisture flow down the wall.

Water enters a special compartment, from where it drains into a sump.

No Frost system

The defrost type provides for one evaporator in the freezer. The fan accelerates the cold air between the chambers. To reduce the penetration of cold into the refrigeration department, an air plug is installed. It closes after receiving a signal to set the optimum temperature.

What causes breakage

A common cause is a violation of the rules for operating the refrigerator. Probably every user at least once did this:

  1. He put warm food in the chamber. After cooking, the dish did not have time to cool, and you urgently need to leave. You sent it to the shelf, after which condensation formed in the refrigerator.
  2. He placed liquid dishes in the chamber without a lid. Moisture evaporates, resulting in condensation.
  3. Set the room temperature to the lowest possible.
  4. He kept the door open for a long time, or did not completely close it.

More serious problems could also cause a breakdown.

Causes of condensation in the refrigerator

If you have decided on the defrost system, then you can start troubleshooting.

For drip type refrigeration equipment

As already mentioned, condensation on the back of the refrigerator is normal. But if water accumulations are observed in other places, you need to check the drainage system for blockage.

  1. Clogged drain compartment or tube. Moisture from the wall has nowhere to drain, so it accumulates at the bottom. The causes of clogging are small crumbs and debris that fall with drops of water. As a result, the evaporator does not have time to thaw and becomes overgrown with snow. A cotton swab or other thin object will help remove the blockage. You can also use a syringe. Pour warm water into the drain compartment until it flushes out.
  2. Depressurization. Worn-out rubber of the door does not allow to close the chamber hermetically. Warm air enters the compartment, and the refrigerator, compensating for the increase in temperature, works even harder. Then the seal needs to be replaced immediately. The door may not close well due to improper installation of equipment. If the body is tilted forward, the door opens arbitrarily.
  3. Malfunction of the temperature sensor, which notifies the system about the temperature in the chamber. Incorrect operation leads to a decrease in the temperature in the chamber, the walls are overgrown with snow.

Most problems you can fix yourself. But some need professional repair.

For refrigerator type No Frost

If condensation forms in the Atlant, Samsung and other brands with the No Frost system, then there are problems in the defrost module. It consists of the following details:

  • timer and defrost sensor;
  • heater;
  • fuse.

You can identify a breakdown by the following signs:

  • the motor is constantly running, does not turn off “to rest”;
  • the refrigerator compartment does not cool the food, and the freezer is overgrown with snow.

Since the temperature is higher in the lower compartment, the snow in the freezer melts a little, and moisture flows down the walls. This results in condensation and puddles of water. Only the replacement of parts will help.

As a result of the formation of moisture, products deteriorate faster, a specific smell appears in the chamber. Snow and ice on the walls contribute to the corrosion of metal elements of equipment, so do not delay the repair. If you cannot solve the problem yourself, contact the service center.
