Concor Cor is a drug used to treat chronic heart failure with impaired left ventricular systolic function. Depending on the dose, it can be used in hypertension and angina.
Concor Cor – action and indications
The active ingredient is bisoprolol, which belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers that work by blocking a type of receptors called beta-adrenergic receptors. Has minimal effect on glucose and lipid metabolism. Bisoprolol slows down the heart rate, reduces the stroke volume and the heart’s need for oxygen.
Concor Cor – contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Unfortunately, as with any drug, there are contraindications to the use of Concor Cor. The preparation should not be used in the case of: acute heart failure, as well as during periods of worsening heart failure requiring intravenous inotropic drugs, bradycardia (heart rate less than 60 beats per minute before starting treatment), sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock, hypotension (systolic blood pressure below 100 mmHg) , second or third degree atrioventricular block in patients without a pacemaker, atrial nodal block, metabolic acidosis, severe bronchial asthma or severe COPD, advanced stage of peripheral arterial occlusive disease or Raynaud’s syndrome, untreated adrenal phaeochromocytoma, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding – unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Concor Cor – dosage
Treatment of stable, chronic heart failure – the drug is used in patients diagnosed with stable chronic heart failure, the treatment of which includes ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, β-blockers, diuretics and, in some cases, also cardiac glycosides. The recommended starting dose is 1,25 mg once a day. Depending on individual tolerance, the dose is gradually increased at intervals of two weeks or longer to 2,5 mg, 3,75 mg, 5 mg, 7,5 mg and 10 mg once a day.
The maximum dose of 10 mg daily should not be exceeded. The tablets should be taken once a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach or with breakfast, without chewing, with a little liquid. Treatment of high blood pressure and angina – the recommended dose is 5 mg once a day. The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily. The maximum recommended dose is 20 mg once a day.
In all cases, the dosage is individualized according to the heart rate and response to treatment.
Concor Cor – side effects
Like all medicines, Concor Cor may cause side effects, but they will not occur in all patients using this preparation. The most common side effects are:
- reduction in heart rate or worsening of heart failure when treating heart failure
- headache and dizziness,
- stomach pain,
- feeling cold or numb in the limbs,
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- constipation
- arterial hypotension,
- worsening of the symptoms of intermittent claudication,
- tiredness,
- state of clinical fatigue and exhaustion of the ears with heart failure,
- orthostatic hypotension,
- worsening heart failure and a decrease in heart rate in people with high blood pressure or angina,
- muscle weakness
- muscle cramps
- state of clinical fatigue and exhaustion of the ear with hypertension or angina,
- atrioventricular conduction disorders,
- bronchospasm in patients with bronchial asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease,
- depression,
- sleep disturbance.
I agree with the Heart – opinion
The drug works by lowering blood pressure and helps with heart problems. Patients note that the drug reduces or completely disappears symptoms.
