Concealer that hides pores

After reading this article, you will learn what qualities a foundation should have to hide pores, and how to make the right choice.

Features of foundation

Foundation is one of the products that we have high hopes for, so we place high demands on it. Modern tonal means fully meet these requests and can do a lot:

  • smooth the surface of the skin;

  • hide enlarged pores;

  • hide redness and age spots;

  • cover up pimples.

Consumers want a product that is not noticeable on the face, does not create a mask effect, and is easy to apply. But at the same time it was persistent and did not clog pores. Such tools are preferred by modern women, many of whom have opted for “makeup without makeup” – a spectacular, fashionable, but completely natural make-up. Such tonal creams are available both in luxury segment brands and in the assortment of mass market brands.

How to choose foundation

In search of a foundation that hides pores and irregularities, be guided by a set of parameters.

  • Matting effect. Powdery and mineral particles absorb excess sebum and fight oily sheen that accentuates pores.

  • translucent or dense coating (in the presence of spots and acne). Transparent makeup will not be able to hide wide pores. Need a more pigmented formula.

  • Light texture. A thick “putty” will emphasize the pores and irregularities on the face. However, there are dense corrective agents for which a special application technique is provided that excludes “side effects”. More on this below.

  • Shine effect. Not to be confused with glitter.

Rating of the best pore concealers

In this selection, we have included the best, according to the editors of Healthy-Food, foundations that cover pores.

Foundation Power Fabric, Giorgio Armani

Foundation with the effect of “second skin”, invisible and imperceptible, evens out the relief and color. Suitable for all skin types.

  • Texture. The cream transforms into a weightless mousse on contact with the skin, leaving a velvety powdery finish.

  • Persistence. The tool is not positioned as extra-resistant, so be prepared for the fact that by the end of the day oily skin can “shine” again.

  • Masking abilities Above average. Works great with pores and light spots. Can be layered for fuller coverage without the fear of overloading the skin.

  • Ease of use. There is no dispenser, and this is rather a plus for the user who knows how much product he needs for the perfect make-up.

  • Advantages. Due to the unusual airy texture, the product is evenly distributed and adjusts to the skin tone, and the microrelief is evened out due to the proprietary 3D Stretch technology.

  • Advantages. Natural result, comfortable feeling and fresh look throughout the day. Large selection of shades.

  • Texture. Liquid yet rich in pigments.

  • Persistence. Feel free to count on durability for 12 hours.

  • Masking abilities Slightly above average, it will cover pale spots, smooth out pores.

  • Ease of use. If the texture seems thicker than desired, apply with a damp sponge.

  • Advantages. Just a good foundation at a reasonable price.

Resistant matting foundation Infaillible, L’Oréal Paris

A mattifying foundation that hides not only pores, but also tone unevenness – typical disadvantages of oily skin.

  • Texture. Medium density. In this case, the product is well distributed and is not felt on the face.

  • Persistence. Very high – the cream will last a day, if circumstances require it from you.

  • Masking abilities The coating density is high enough to hide skin imperfections.

  • Advantages. Super long-lasting, reduces oily sheen, conceals imperfections.

Corrective tonal fluid Dermablend, Vichy

The pigment-rich composition is addressed to oily skin prone to imperfections. Does not clog pores, camouflages redness, inflammation, pigmentation, post-acne.

  • Persistence. The manufacturer promises coverage up to 16 hours.

  • Ease of use. It is important to use the product correctly: we advise you to moisturize the skin before applying and wait until the cream is completely absorbed. After that, the fluid is applied with light driving movements.

  • Advantages. High coverage and super hold without a “puff cake” feeling on the face.

Application rules

Foundation can be applied with fingers, brush, dry or wet sponge. But it is much more important to remember that the face is a “canvas” that needs to be prepared so that the tone is distributed evenly. Make sure to moisturize your skin first.

Life hacks: how to hide pores with cosmetics

There are several ways to reduce the visibility of pores before and after applying foundation.

  1. Clay mask. After washing, apply the composition to the T-zone – the clay will absorb excess sebum and the cleaned pores will appear smaller. Don’t forget toner and moisturizer after you wash off the mask.

  2. Makeup base. A primer with silicone will fill in pores and help smooth out the nervousness.

  3. There is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of transparent loose powder to oily skin instead of a primer. Powder particles will settle in the pores, smoothing the skin texture, and will absorb sebum throughout the day.

  4. If you go too far with matting, sprinkle your face with a mist or thermal water and lightly “press” with clean palms or a tissue.

  5. After applying foundation and powder, mark the protruding areas of the cheekbones with a highlighter. Light effects will divert attention from imperfections.
