Acupuncture. Since 1997, several research groups and expert committees1,2,3,4 concluded that acupuncture is effective in countering nausea and vomiting associated with surgery and chemotherapy treatments.
visualization. Following the findings of three study reviews, it is now recognized that relaxation techniques, including visualization, markedly reduce unwanted side effects of chemotherapy, such as nausea and vomiting.5,7,8, as well as psychological symptoms such as anxiety, depression, anger, or a feeling of helplessness4,5,8.
Massage Therapy. The beneficial effects of massage in relieving anxiety and improving the quality of life of people with cancer have been observed in numerous clinical trials, meta-analyzes and systematic reviews.9.
Autogenic training. Some observational studies10 indicate that autogenic training considerably reduces anxiety, increases “fighting spirit against cancer” and improves the quality of sleep11.
Yoga. A systematic synthesis of the scientific literature, which aimed to assess the effectiveness of yoga in cancer patients or cancer survivors, reports that the practice of yoga is well tolerated in this population and that it has several positive effects on sleep quality, mood and stress management12.
