Tea tree essential oil |
Some natural products are traditionally used against skin parasites, but it is best to first follow the recommendations and treatment prescribed by the doctor, given the high contagiousness of scabies. |
Tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia): extracted from the leaves of an Australian shrub, this essential oil has antiseptic properties. It is traditionally used to disinfect skin wounds and to treat several skin conditions. A study conducted vitro in 2004 on scabies mites showed that tea tree oil (5%) was effective in killing pests. The study therefore concluded that the active compound in tea tree oil, terpinene-4-ol, was a potentially interesting miticide.8. Further studies must be carried out to confirm these results.
