Complementary approaches to narcolepsy

Complementary approaches to narcolepsy

Several complementary approaches hope to combat the symptoms of narcolepsy. However, they do not work for everyone. Each person has to find the one that suits them best.

Food

Limiting gluten, dairy products (cow’s), refined foods, eating mainly fruits and vegetables from organic farming would help, according to some, to space out crises. In addition, there is a risk of overweight, especially during the onset of the disease, which must be prevented by dietary measures.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy could also be effective if the hypersomnias are related to disorders of cranial origin (according to the osteopathic conception of this term). A work on the craniosacral axis would in this case help to fight against narcolepsy.

Hypnosis

Paradoxically, hypnosis is a method that could prove to be interesting for treating narcolepsy or, at least, for spacing out crises. The ideal is to call in a therapist practicing Ericksonian hypnosis.

Acupuncture

Some forms of narcolepsy would respond particularly well to acupuncture. This method makes it possible to help certain patients, in particular by reducing the frequency of onset of seizures.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy does not claim to cure narcolepsy. Thus, the treatment proposed below is to be taken in addition to the usual medicinal treatments. For example, one dose per week of Nux moschata (remedy from nutmeg) in 12 CH for as long as needed.
