Eyebright eye drops.

To relieve conjunctivitis: eye drops or compresses based on marigold.

Processing

 Eyebright eye drops (Euphrasia). A research of 85 patients with conjunctivitis gave remarkable results. However, it is of low methodological quality1.

Dosage : 1 drop from 1 to 5 times a day.

Caution : Commission E does not recommend eyebright-based compresses because of the risk of bacterial contamination.

 Marigold eye drops or compresses (Calendula officinalis). Consult our concern sheet for details.

Decoction of chamomile flowers. Boil some water and put some dried chamomile flowers in it. Let boil for 10 minutes, a long time to destroy any microorganisms that may be harmful to the eye. Let cool. Take a sterile compress, soak it with the liquid and wash the eye several times. Be careful, around 3% of people can develop a chamomile allergy. If the signs get worse, don’t start over. This decoction is used against viral, bacterial or allergic conjunctivitis, chamomile undoubtedly having both a disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effect.
