Common Tashnik: properties and application

The Common Tashnik (Latin name Capsella bursa-pastoris) is a plant belonging to the brassica family, most likely from the Mediterranean region. Currently, it is a cosmopolitan species that occurs all over the world. It is often referred to as a weed. However, many people are not aware of the special properties and application of the common grasshopper.

Appearance of the common meatball

The structure of the plant depends on environmental conditions. The height of the common grasshopper is usually within 20-40 cm. There are, of course, greater or lesser cases. The plant has an upright stem with single leaves. More leaves are located at the base of the stem, forming a kind of rosette. The flowers of the common grasshopper are usually white in color, forming small clusters on the stem. The plant has the fruit in the form of seeds, which are in the shells. Each of them can contain up to 20 seeds.

Properties of the plant

The Common Tashnik shows a lot healing properties. It has anti-hemorrhagic, disinfecting, expectorant and diuretic properties. Additionally, it has properties that protect the liver. The root and herb of the common grass contains choline, acetylcholine and tyramine, which are chemical compounds that lower blood pressure and dilate blood vessels and stimulate the work of the heart. Additionally, the plant contains substances such as: tannins, saponins, flavonoids and organic acids (including malic, citric) and vitamins K, B and C.

Application of the common grasshopper

The use of the plant is especially recommended in the case of problems with the circulatory system. This is due to the content of rutin, which increases the tightness of blood vessels. Tashnik helps in the event of uterine bleeding or heavy menstruation, bleeding gums and nose, hematuria, bloody diarrhea or haemorrhage on the retina of the eye. The plant is used in bedsores or varicose veins, as well as in inflammation of the kidneys and bladder, ulcers, acne, urticaria and gallstone disease, urticaria, hemorrhoids, and rheumatism.

Dosage

Pharmacies and herbal shops have many products containing the common grass, e.g. teas, dried herbs or liquid extracts. However, the most effective action is shown by a freshly picked plant. It is easily available due to its widespread presence. You can create various types of macerates, juices or tinctures from the common grasshopper. The plant, cleaned of any dirt, should be blended and poured over with salt water. After waiting a few hours, the mixture prepared in this way must be drunk or applied as a compress on the skin. Tashnik can be combined with other herbs, such as nettle leaves, which only strengthens its effect. The plant is also a great base for alcohol-based tinctures.
