But you don’t want to waste your days just like that, give up your favorite activities and plans. Observance of the water regime and the use of large amounts of juicy vegetables and fruits containing water, such as cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, citrus fruits, and watermelon, will help to get rid of such PMS symptoms. Drinking plenty of fluids will fight bloating, remove toxins from the body, regulate the digestive tract and maintain water balance. But you don’t need to overdo it either: hormonal surges hit the genitourinary system of the body, therefore, before menstruation, the work of the kidneys slows down, edema appears.
Review nutrition
During PMS and during menstruation, women’s mood changes at the speed of light! Hot temper replaces tearfulness and vice versa. The right foods can help keep your emotional background in check. For example, banana contains a lot of potassium, so its consumption is necessary for blood loss. You can increase the hormones of joy with the help of goodies. But here it is better to give preference to natural and high-quality chocolate, for example, dark, than to indulge yourself with fast carbohydrates and foods with a high sugar content, because sugar causes fluid retention, which is very bad during PMS. We do not think it is worth saying that it is better to abstain from bad habits, at least, to get rid of them altogether!
Being outdoors more often, especially in the sun

The leaves of this plant can also be brewed with tea, added to compotes and fruit drinks. The same goes for mint and chamomile! Melissa is good to use during relaxation procedures: take a handful of leaves, add oregano, wormwood, mint, yarrow and other herbs to it. Pour boiling water over all this and let it brew. Take horsetail for severe swelling
As we have already said, often during PMS, the work of the genitourinary system suffers: edema and bloating appear. Alternatively, take herbal diuretics. Horsetail decoction, which is easy to find in a pharmacy, will help to cope well with edema. Pour 20-30 g of herbs in a glass of boiling water, let it brew and cool. You can drink up to 3 glasses of broth per day.
Decoction for irritability
If your main ailment with PMS is anxiety, moodiness and irritability, if during this period loved ones are afraid to approach and talk to you, because you will definitely show your dissatisfaction with something, then you need to work with your nervous system. If you believe the folk recipes, then the infusion of motherwort herb will help you. Finely chop about 1 tablespoon of the plant, brew it in a glass of boiling water and take 1-2 glasses a day. Do not forget to read the contraindications before using motherwort.
Spices and herbs for health
Muscle cramps, loss or increase in appetite, pain, pressure surges are as frequent companions of PMS as irritability and insomnia. Spices and herbs have long been used by women to relieve symptoms.
Turmeric, for example, can help relieve pain in the lower abdomen, as well as have a beneficial effect on the reproductive functions of the body. Zira in its analgesic properties can compete with medications for pain and inflammation! Such a spice as fenugreek has been used for many centuries to eliminate pain in dysmenorrhea, to maintain the beauty of skin, hair and nails, the condition of which worsens during menstruation, and also in winter, by the way! There are so many beneficial micronutrients in fennel that its use will relieve pain and swelling. This is achieved due to the content of natural estrogen, phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and vitamin K.
Coriander will help keep hormones from raging and normalize their balance. With prolonged and regular use of saffron, PMS symptoms will get weaker with each cycle. It has a huge content of minerals such as manganese, selenium, copper, iron, potassium, zinc. This spice relieves pain, restores the reproductive functions of the body, has a calming effect and strengthens the work of the heart. Ginger will help get rid of depression, and a few more pieces of dry ginger root in tea – and the cramps will subside!
Potentilla root from PMS
If menstruation is a period of tears and pain for you, then you need to prepare in advance for premenstrual syndrome. Potentilla root tincture has healing properties. It tones and removes fluid from the body, and soothes, and has antibacterial, immunostimulating and wound healing properties. A tincture is prepared from crushed Potentilla roots or from powder. For 50 g of a plant, you need ½ l of vodka, insist everything in a dark place for three weeks. Take 30 drops 30 times a day 3 minutes before meals. It is advisable to take a month course! You can also make non-alcoholic decoctions: pour 30-50 g of the root with 0,5 liters of boiling water and boil for half an hour. Divide the drink into 3 parts and take 3 times a day before meals.
