“This year made us happy with the summer weather in September, which made the onset of the cold season doubly contrasting,” says psychologist Elena Shamova. – Fatigue comes, unwillingness to do anything, even those activities that have recently brought pleasure, no longer have the same effect. The reason for such an autumn blues is a decrease in daylight hours, and, consequently, a deficiency of serotonin, the “hormone of happiness”, in our body.
So that the positive and cheerfulness does not leave during the period of autumn-winter grayness, you can take note of a few practical tips on how to extend the summer at home. After all, whatever one may say, we wake up and fall asleep in our native walls, and it is they who create and set the desired mood tone for us.
1. Take a look around your home and think about where you spend the most time. Having answered this question, try to add bright colors in this space: shades of yellow, orange and red. Orange color works especially well on emotions: photo frames, sofa cushions, vases and other bright orange accessories will do their good job.
2. Add comfort and convenience items to the bedroom and living room. In autumn and winter, a person is more in need of warmth, comfort and convenience. It can be soft, fluffy blankets, bedspreads, cushions, etc. Interior perfumes with fruit or sea fresh smells or fragrant sachets will also successfully cope with the task.
3. In the kitchen, update your curtains, the lighter and airier the fabric, the better. In the cold season, there is very little light, so nothing should block it. Increase the number of artificial light sources to compensate for the lack of sun. And let napkins, tablecloths and dishes be juicy.
4. We start the morning with a visit to the bathroom, so try to add bright accents and pleasant textures here too: beautiful coasters and jars for cosmetics, fluffy bathrobes and towels, rugs and slippers. Use aromatherapy: soaps, gels, oils with citrus plant scent excite well in the morning and give you a boost of energy.
