Colloidal silver has recently been a hit in natural medicine. It has a wide range of uses and is believed by enthusiasts to treat almost everything from infections to skin conditions. Opponents admit that colloidal silver does have anti-inflammatory effects, but they are negligible. And the only thing we achieve by using this preparation is a waste of time and money. How is it really?
Colloidal silver was used in antiquity and in modern times it was used until 1938. At the turn of the 1938th and 70th centuries, it was discovered that the most important fluids in our body are colloidal. This applies to blood, which supplies oxygen to our cells. Prior to 650, colloidal silver was widely used by physicians in antibiotic treatment. Colloidal silver has a strong bactericidal effect – it is used in therapies that cleanse our body. Already in the XNUMXs, it was proven that colloidal silver kills XNUMX types of bacteria, while antibiotics destroy about half a dozen of them.
How does colloidal silver work?
In the presence of bacteria and fungi, silver causes them to die and are quickly removed from the body by the immune system. However, it does not destroy our cells because they have a completely different structure. Thanks to this property, colloidal silver is used to treat and soothe skin irritations, burns, cuts, acne, and eczema. Reduces the reaction after insect bites. It can be used to disinfect water, use for hand and foot hygiene. It facilitates the removal of mucus from the bronchi and sinuses. Supporters and promoters of colloidal silver recommend taking a spoonful of silver every day, they even recommend it for use by children. In fact, you cannot overdose on it, because its excess is removed from the body.
What do skeptics think about the effects of colloidal silver?
Preparations containing colloidal silver are indeed used in dermatology, but they do not support the idea of proponents who would like to use it to treat other diseases, such as bronchitis. There is no evidence that drinking silver has any positive effects. Silver kills about 650 microbes, many of which are associated with the human body. The problem is that silver kills those with whom it has been in contact for a long time. It may turn out that the complicated nature of our body may not allow enough silver to get into the infected place. The positive aspect is that colloidal silver, even in large amounts, is not toxic to the human body. Our body does not lose anything due to the loss of this element and additional supplementation does not bring anything new. It ends up with 99% of the introduced silver being excreted from our body. Although the excess will not kill us, it can cause some ailments, e.g. on the part of the liver, it can also cause a change in the color of the skin.
There are many preparations based on colloidal silver available on the market. We need to find the one with the highest quality. The most perfect ones are created in a physical process and therefore do not contain any chemical impurities. Colloidal silver seems to be a strong bactericidal and anti-infective agent. It is not toxic and the excess is excreted from our body. Can we therefore not compare the use of silver with the use of vitamins? Everyone should make their own decision for or against.
