Cold allergy: treatment for a cold or allergies?

Usually all winter I go around with a red nose and waste countless tissue paper, just have time to open the packages. I used to blame my weak immunity for everything, I thought that a winter runny nose was the result of a permanent cold.

And only recently I found out that under the guise of a seasonal rhinitis, in fact, there is an allergy to the cold. This discovery gave me some moral relief, but the runny nose from it did not stop. Then I decided to find out what causes this mysterious disease and how to get rid of it.

Here’s what I found out. They started talking about this unusual allergy not so long ago. And the mechanism of its appearance is not completely clear – after all, snow and cold air do not contain any special allergens. There are several versions:

1. The enemy inside

In the cold, the body temperature decreases, the body perceives this as a signal for action and in a strange way produces an “enemy” – a kind of foreign protein structure. To then bravely fight her, like Don Quixote with windmills.

Under the influence of heat, this structure quickly disintegrates, therefore, in the room, the runny nose miraculously stops. Why such an immune reaction occurs is still unknown to science.

What to do?

Go to an allergist, donate blood for cryoglobulins. If the diagnosis is confirmed, he will prescribe drugs for the “cold” allergy.

2. Lazy vessels

A runny nose appears due to the poor functioning of the vessels of the nasal mucosa. Under normal conditions, they more or less cope with their task, but in the cold they get an additional load and immediately give up their positions.

What to do?

Visit laura. He may prescribe acupuncture, cryotherapy, ultrasound, laser, or nasal lavage. The latter, by the way, can be done at home on your own, using a weak solution of sea salt or a special apparatus “Dolphin”.

3. Along a curved track

Winter runny nose can be a consequence of the curvature of the nasal septum. Of course, broken noses are mostly for men, but we also have injuries. Moreover, they can declare themselves after many years, completely unexpectedly.

For example, a friend of mine, while still in school, suffered a nose injury while playing basketball in physical education class. And after 10 years it started torment persistent rhinitis… It turned out by chance that the problem was precisely that long-forgotten trauma.

What to do?

In this situation, only surgeons will help. It is clear that with a joyful exclamation: “Cut!” they respond to any illness, from bruises to headaches. But in this case, the operation is really the only way out. Its task is to remove the curved part of the septum. The operation is carried out through the nose, so no marks remain on the face.
