Cola Cao’s Golden Jubilee and Olympic sport

There is only one month left until the world’s most famous flame burns in the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, and the kick-off is given to the probably most anticipated Olympic Games in history. An appointment that ColaCao could not miss.

And it is that the brand once again shows its unconditional support for sport with the creation of a limited edition of his iconic with the Tokyo Olympics as the protagonists. It will soon be 50 years since this link with Olympism, and the brand wanted to commemorate this event with an exclusive tribute design.

In the words of Xavi Pons, CEO of Idilia Foods, we clearly see the spirit of the brand

Cola Cao has always promoted the positive values of sport as a brand. It is a pride to be able to celebrate 50 years alongside the Olympism. Doing it with a special edition of our boat, as sponsors of the Olympic and Paralympic teams of our country, gives it a very special character.

The Olympic stadium is thus transferred to the popular ColaCao boat and represents athletes from disciplines such as athletics, swimming, basketball, cycling, gymnastics or water polo, with the presence of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, also showing ColaCao’s support for inclusion and diversity.

ColaCao and sport, more than 75 years hand in hand

Since its inception, ColaCao has had a close relationship with the world of sports. His first advertising campaigns already showed this link, which became Olympic in the

  • 1972 Munich Olympics. The most popular athletes of the moment, such as Eddy Merckx, Mark Spitz or Emerson Fittipaldi, joined his campaigns.
  • In 1988 it became an official sponsor of the Spanish Olympic team through its adhesion to the ADO Plan (Olympic Sports Association).
  • A few years later, Spanish sports icons such as Rafa Nadal or Dani Pedrosa starred, accompanied by their mothers, in the cacao brand’s spots.
  • As of 2009, ColaCao put at the center the values of overcoming, integration and companionship in sport, giving prominence to “anonymous” boys and girls who grew up and enjoyed practicing sport. This is the case of campaigns like Bea, the girl with a passion for BMX; Yael, the surfer boy – who years later would become European champion – or Daniel Stix, the boy with paralyzed legs who taught us to dream while riding in his wheelchair. Years later Daniel would triumph in basketball with the Spanish team.
  • In 2017 the brand expanded its support for sport with the sponsorship of the Spanish Paralympic team, forming part of ADOP (Support for Paralympic Objective Sports). In addition, it has sponsored different sports scholarship programs for grassroots sports together with the Higher Sports Council.

The new limited-edition packaging can be purchased while supplies last.
