History Sayat Nova
1962 The Yeghvard Wine and Brandy Factory was built in the city of Yeghvard, Kotayk region. Extensive vineyards are located on the territory of the Ararat valley. To create blends, autochthonous white varieties are used, for example, Garandmak, Mskhali, Voskehat and others. Of the imported varieties, only one is allowed, but even it must be Caucasian.
The company diligently avoids mixing crops of different varieties and ages. It doesn’t even matter that they come from the same area. Alcohol matures in barrels made of Caucasian oak. The company has its own cooper’s workshop, which provides for the needs of the company. Exposure takes from 3 to 20 years. The rate of maturation is not changed by oak staves, and the taste and aromatic properties are not enhanced by the addition of caramel. The strength decreases as the “angels’ share” evaporates through the pores of the wood.
At the bottling stage, the containers are sealed with cork stoppers. Then they are placed in cardboard boxes, and if the age of alcohol is over 10 years, then also in souvenir boxes.
2009 A series of cognacs was released under the name “Sayat-Nova”, in honor of the Armenian poet, master of love lyrics. Sayat-Nova is the pseudonym of Harutyun Sayadyan, who lived in the XNUMXth century. Blenders were inspired by his creative activity and the scale of his personality. A successful product must have a beautiful legend behind it. In our case, this is the life of the creator, who is still popular in the Transcaucasus to this day.
2010 The 20-year-old cognac received gold in the De Luxe category. Cognacs aged 10 and 14 years old were also awarded a gold medal in the Premium category, and 5 and 7 years old – in the Standard category.
2020 The company is equipped with the latest Italian equipment from distillation shops and cellars with ripening spirits to bottling lines. He managed to preserve the traditions of manufacturing, which correspond to today’s quality standards.
