Features cognac Noy

To create drinks of a famous brand, selected fruits of predominantly white grape varieties are used: Mskhali, Voskehat, Garandmak.

Old oak barrels are used for aging, some of which have been preserved since the time of Shustov.

Such storage provides drinks with a special bouquet with the presence of spicy, vanilla and oak notes.

The aging period depends on the category of cognac: the minimum is 3 years, the maximum reaches 50 years. Fortress standard – 40%.

Depending on age, the color of drinks changes: from soft amber to rich copper with golden and reddish blotches.

The ancient recipe and production technology, bit by bit restored in modern times, are kept secret and strictly observed.

Brand History

The first mention of the manufacturer dates back to the end of the 1877th century, when the successful merchant Nerses Tairyan acquired the territory of the Erivan fortress for the construction of a winery. The founding date of the plant is XNUMX.

At first, the company was engaged exclusively in the manufacture of wines, which were made in an artisanal way. Over time, strong drinks appeared in the assortment, which glorified the company all over the world.

The cousin of the merchant Tairyan, Vasily Tairov, who was educated in France and was a relative of the famous artist Aivazovsky, took an active part in the work of the plant.

A serious contribution to the organization of cognac production was made by the young master Mkrtich Musinyants, who graduated with honors from the French school of winemaking.

Thanks to him, innovative Charente-type apparatus for the distillation of spirits appeared at the plant, and optimal conditions were created for aging and storing cognacs.

However, despite the advanced system for making drinks, in 1899 Nerses Tairyan was forced to sell the company to the Moscow merchant Shustov.

The change of ownership benefited the company: the assortment expanded, sales figures improved, and products began to receive awards at international competitions.

The most significant achievement was the award of the Grand Prix at the French exhibition to one of the “Shustov drinks”, for which the local alcohol was awarded the right to be called “cognac”, and not “brandy”.

In 1912, for the high quality of products, the plant received the title of “official supplier of the Imperial Court.” With the advent of Soviet power, the enterprise was nationalized and renamed Ararat, after the collapse of the USSR it experienced difficult times of stagnation, and in 2002 it became part of the Multi Group concern, which restored the work of the plant.
