Cognac “Lezginka” belongs to the category of vintage and has been produced for more than 50 years. The aged Caucasian product has over 2 dozen awards from regional and international competitions.

Brand History

The first distilleries in sunny Kizlyar appeared in the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries. Local residents experimented with grape raw materials with might and main, making from it not only wines, but also vodka.

The strong drink, called “Kizlyarka”, after aging in oak barrels, was very reminiscent of French cognac. He fell in love not only with local residents, but also with guests from Europe. Alexandre Dumas himself appreciated the “kizlyarka”, who noted its “high taste qualities”.

Ancient technologies and recipes were adopted by David Saradzhev, who in 1885 united the best distilleries in the region into one enterprise. Subsequently, his brainchild was renamed the Kizlyar Cognac Factory. In 1963, one of the country’s most popular grape drinks, Lezginka, was born here.

Cognac, named after the national Dagestan dance, became one of the favorites among the inhabitants of the USSR and gained many fans abroad. Thanks to strict adherence to technology, it still retains the reputation of one of the best in its category.

Production specifics

For the manufacture of the legendary product, local grape varieties are used: Rkatsiteli, Riesling, Scarlet Tersky, Levokumsky.

Raw materials are collected in October and subjected to traditional processing: pressing, settling, fermentation.

Distillation of young wine is carried out in cubes of the Charente type.

For aging “Lezginki” they use Caucasian oak barrels, in which the future cognac spends at least 6 years.

Cognac “Lezginka” embodies the bright Caucasian flavor and energy of the national Dagestan dance.

  1. The drink has a multifaceted, powerful, lively bouquet, which is dominated by notes of ripe fruits, flowers and hazelnuts.

  2. The taste pleases with shades of dried fruits, confiture, moderate astringency and warming bitterness. Finish: elegant, with hints of vanilla.

  3. Colour: Intense, dark amber. Fortress: 40%.

“Lezginka” is available in 3 volumes: 0,1 l, 0,25 l and 0,5 l. The drink will be a good gift for fans of quality cognac. It is recommended to use as a digestif.

Interesting Facts

  1. A few years ago, Lezginka cognac from the VKZ Dagvino was on sale. However, the attempt to register the legendary trademark for the St. Petersburg enterprise was not successful.

    After a long consideration of the case, the court ruled in favor of the Kizlyar plant.

  2. Many cognacs of the Dagestan enterprise (“Rossiya”, “Peter the Great”, “Bagration”, etc.) are the official drinks of the Kremlin’s protocol events.

  3. The Kizlyar plant is one of the five largest cognac producers in Russia, processing more than 40 tons of grapes per year.
