Cognac Anri: history, overview of species + interesting facts

Anri – premium cognac of Russian production, which belongs to the company “Fanagoria”. As part of the grapes from their own farms located on the Taman Peninsula.

History of cognac Anri

1963 In the Krasnodar Territory, the first largest wine and juice plant in the USSR and the second largest in Europe started operating.

1996 JSC APF “Fanagoria” was registered. The equipment was updated, and the sale of wine products was given priority.

2009 They expanded the territory of vineyards, began to produce cognac by the classical method. Including the 3-year-old Anri VS went on sale.

2011

The Anri collection has been expanded to three types, representatives of 5-year and 10-year aging have appeared. Alcohols are aged in oak barrels. Caucasian hardwood oak is used, the age of the tree varies from 80 to 100 years.

Barrels are made in our own cooperage workshop, which opened in August of the same year. The quality bar is so high that they are purchased by notorious adhesive tape manufacturers Glenmorangie and William Grant & Sons Ltd.

Distillates are distilled in copper alambika, owned by Fanagoria.

2015 Initially, spirits were supplied from France, but the favorable climate of Taman made it possible to grow the necessary varieties. So, spirits were replaced by Russian ones, which made the cognac more accessible to the consumer and did not diminish the quality.

2020 There are currently four types of cognac in the current assortment. They are the pride of producers, as the quality is in no way inferior to imported drinks.

Types of cognac Anri

  1. Anri VS, 3 years, 40%

    Deep amber color, cast in gold. Soft, rounded taste of dried fruits, complemented by honey nuances. The fragrance combines woody tones, spicy and resinous notes, as well as figs and apricots. The aftertaste is long and warm.

  2. Anri VSOP, 5 years, 40%

    Dark amber color. The taste is woven from nuts, dried fruits, vanilla and woody notes. The aroma is slightly alcoholic, but the problem is easily solved if the drink is allowed to breathe. Flowers, nuts, dried fruits and spicy nuances are felt in it.

  3. Anri, 7 years old, 40%

    Amber with golden tints. Rich taste of dried fruits and pine nuts, framed by woody and vanilla notes. It smells of a mixture of prunes, dried apricots and figs, as well as flowers and vanilla. Spice and chocolate are revealed in the long aftertaste.

  4. Anri XO, 10 years old, 40%

    Intense dark amber color. The taste is full, with barely noticeable pepperiness of tannins. The aroma is bright, woven from notes of oak, dried fruits and coffee and chocolate tones. There is a slight alcohol content that will not go away after decanting. The aftertaste is a combination of rye bread and walnuts.

Awards

  1. Anri VSOP won a silver award at the Antitseya 2013 International wine tasting competition and a bronze award at Anri VSOP, and also won bronze at the South Russia 2011 tasting competition.

  2. Anri XO in 2012 and 2014 received a gold award from the South Russia competition, and in 2012 from the XVI International Professional Wine and Spirits Competition.

  3. At Anticea 2013, Anri XO also won gold.

Interesting Facts

  1. Phanagoria is the name of the colony that the ancient Greeks founded on the Taman Peninsula.

  2. The slogan of the company is: “Noblesse oblige – position obliges”.

  3. In 2014, the company took part in the Sochi Olympic Games and Formula 1 races, which had not previously been held in Russia.
