The mechanism of action of coffee scrub on the skin of the face and body
What happens when we apply coffee scrub to the skin? She reacts to it in much the same way as the body to a cup of aromatic coffee. Applying a scrub involves a more or less active massage, so it can be argued that with its help we activate all processes, and especially those that were slowed down for some reason. As a result, we provide several positive effects at once:
acceleration of lymph flow;
improvement of vascular tone;
fighting free radicals (coffee is rich in antioxidants);
reducing moisture loss.
Coffee scrub softens and moisturizes the skin. But only if the concentration of caffeine in the product is at least 1-5%.
Comparison of a homemade product and a finished scrub
Coffee grounds are suitable for making simple face and body scrubs.
The trend for handmade cosmetics is gaining momentum, and more and more women around the world are starting to prepare creams, scrubs and masks with their own hands, adhering to the principles of Slow Beauty – slow beauty. We urge to act without fanaticism.
Composition
A homemade coffee scrub is a great option for regular grooming, but the concentration of the active ingredient caffeine in a homemade beauty product is questionable, which is not the case with a finished beauty product. So, you should not count on the WOW effect from a home-made coffee scrub.
Efficiency
Ease of use
In addition to being time consuming and troublesome to make at home, a homemade scrub can temporarily stain the skin with substances that appear in the coffee during the roasting process. With ready-made tools, this effect is excluded.

Back to coffee. In order for the scrub made of coffee particles to become more effective, we advise you to pre-prepare the skin, namely, to steam it thoroughly. It is no coincidence that coffee scrubs are most often used in a bath or sauna.
For a homemade scrub, use coffee grounds made from fine or medium ground coffee so as not to injure the skin, especially on the face.
Do not massage the skin too actively during application, in order to avoid injury.
There are subtleties of using coffee scrub for different zones.
For face
Coffee scrub for the face, neck and décolleté is applied in a thin layer. To make the scrub softer, you can add a little olive oil to the coffee grounds. Coffee particles will exfoliate the epidermis well if you apply the scrub in soft circular motions, without pressing on the face. Leave this application on the face for 15-20 minutes. But if you feel a burning sensation, the scrub should be washed off immediately with warm water.
For body
A coffee grounds scrub is applied to well-steamed skin. On the legs – in the direction from the tips of the fingers up to the hips, on the hands – from the hands to the shoulders. You can use special massage gloves or a hard brush. After applying the scrub, it is advisable to leave it on the skin for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
