Coffee grounds: scrub with coffee grounds and other beauty benefits
It would be wrong to throw out the coffee grounds. We have known for a long time that it has multiple benefits. Sometimes known, as in the garden, or unsuspected in other areas, it also conceals very interesting beauty virtues that are easy to apply, such as the coffee grounds scrub.
Why are coffee grounds useful in cosmetics?
The benefits of coffee grounds in cosmetics
One of the active organic substances that make up coffee, and the remaining grounds, is caffeine. It is also found, in lower doses, in tea or even in cocoa. Its stimulating virtues for the body are also useful for the epidermis, improving blood micro-circulation. This is particularly the case when the coffee grounds are used in a scrub.
Caffeine is also known to help lose weight in addition to a suitable diet, due to its lipolytic action. In other words, it has the capacity to absorb fat. In cosmetics, it is therefore used primarily for its stimulating and anti-cellulite power.
Composition of coffee grounds
Coffee is a concentrate of anti-oxidants and minerals, nitrogen, phosphorus, or even potassium. Most of its goodness is formed and concentrated during roasting. In terms of health, coffee is therefore very interesting, when it is consumed in reasonable doses. The grounds, which is the dry matter that remains after preparation and filtering, concentrates the remaining part of the benefits of coffee. It would therefore be a shame to throw it away without using it for other purposes.
Coffee grounds have beauty properties for both the face and the body. Well used and mixed with other natural ingredients, it offers convincing and recognized results.
Coffee grounds for the beauty of the face
Facial scrub with coffee grounds
The first advantage of coffee grounds for the beauty of the face lies in its material, at the same time earthy, soft and homogeneous. This makes it possible to use it in the form of a scrub, which will also be suitable for sensitive skin, provided that a preliminary test is carried out on a small area of skin.
The mechanical action but also the keratolytic qualities of caffeine – in other words its ability to dissolve keratin – will eliminate dead cells and oxygenate the skin. Its stimulating properties will, for their part, activate the blood micro-circulation and thus revive the radiance of the complexion.
You just need to mix a rounded teaspoon of coffee grounds with a level teaspoon of honey and a level teaspoon of vegetable oil, apricot or sweet almond oil. Massage in a circular fashion and rinse with lukewarm water.
Eye mask with coffee grounds
By its stimulating action and tightening effect, coffee grounds decongest the eye area and reduce dark circles. To use it as a mask, it is necessary to mix it with an ingredient that will fix it and accentuate the lifting effect. For this, use a simple egg white, added to a teaspoon of coffee grounds and half a teaspoon of honey. It is not necessary to leave the mask on for a long time, 5 minutes is enough. Then rinse very gently so as not to irritate the eye area.
Coffee grounds for the beauty of the body
Coffee grounds also have many virtues for the beauty and firmness of the body.
Body scrub with coffee grounds
To achieve an effective body scrub that does not strip the skin, nothing could be simpler with coffee grounds. Just mix a dose of marc with the same dose of your usual shower gel. Then perform an exfoliation in circular movements and insist on the calluses: elbows, knees, heels.
Anti-cellulite poultice with coffee grounds
As a scrub, coffee grounds already have an action on fatty cells and the orange peel appearance. In poultice, its effects on this point are even more important. To do this, mix the same doses of coffee grounds and olive oil, about four tablespoons each. Apply the resulting paste to the affected areas, then wrap plastic wrap around your thighs. Keep this poultice overnight under pajama pants. For long-term results, repeat this routine once a week.
It is quite possible to use the coffee grounds of a traditional machine, of a percolator or of your daily pods. You can also keep it for up to 4 days in the fridge in an airtight box.
