Recently, fans of mixing beer with coffee received an unexpected surprise from several breweries – coffee beer, which, as the creators assure, combines the taste and beneficial properties of two drinks. I propose to learn more about this new alcoholic masterpiece. We will also look at one of the popular recipes for making coffee beer at home.

Coffee beer – This is a low-alcohol drink with a strength of 0 to 8%, which stimulates the nervous system, quenches thirst, has an original, difficult to compare taste. Coffee beer should be served chilled to 8-12 degrees.

In advertising, some manufacturers suggest drinking coffee beer as a hangover cure. You need to be careful about such advice, since caffeine in combination with alcohol can adversely affect the health of a person suffering from a hangover.

For the first time, British brewers from the Meantime company thought of mixing beer with coffee. Their 4% ABV product consists of roasted Rwandan Robusta beans (a type of coffee) and local barley. A 330 ml bottle contains as much caffeine as a cup of coffee.

Seeing the success of the British drink, Starbucks and Redhook took up the creation of coffee beer in America. By joining forces, the companies introduced the world to a special espresso recipe, which can now be ordered in all coffee shops owned by these companies.

Then the food giant Nestle entered the race to dominate the coffee beer industry, launching a product called “Coffee-Beer”, which is distinguished by the absence of alcohol. Fermented coffee beans are used for preparation. This is a non-alcoholic drink with a traditional coffee taste and persistent beer foam.

It is not yet possible to buy all of the above drinks in Russia, so we will prepare homemade coffee beer according to the cocktail principle.

Ingredients:

  • coffee – 200 ml;
  • dark beer – 200 ml.

Preparation:

1. Make strong coffee (preferably brewed) without sugar and cool to room temperature.

2. Mix 1:1 cold strong coffee and dark beer (stout).

Not all my friends liked coffee beer, only a few people highly appreciated the taste. Nevertheless, I advise everyone to try this drink. You can also modify the recipe by adding other ingredients, such as sugar or cream.
