Codipar is used for pain of various origins: headaches, toothaches, muscles, joints and bones, painful menstruation, fever in the course of a cold or flu. The drug contains paracetamol, which soothes unpleasant ailments and does not damage the gastric mucosa. It is an over-the-counter drug.

Codipar action
A non-opioid drug with an analgesic and antipyretic effect, thanks to the active substance – paracetamol. It has no anti-inflammatory effect as it does not inhibit the action of cyclooxygenases and prostaglandin synthesis in peripheral tissues. The drug does not damage the gastric mucosa and is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Indications for use of the drug Codipar
Codpar is used for pain of various origins:
- headaches,
- muscle aches,
- arthralgia,
- bone pain
- painful periods
- fever,
- colds and flu.
Codipar is indicated for oral administration in the form of tablets. It should be taken as directed and not exceed the daily dose.
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 12 years of age 0,5-1 g (1-2 tablets) every 4-6 h, in the short-term treatment max. 4 g / day, in the case of long-term use 2,6 g / day.
- Children 7-12. year of life. Single dose 10-15 mg / kg body weight; usually 250 mg (half a tablet) is taken every 4-6 h, up to 4 times a day.
- The maximum daily dose is 65 mg / kg body weight.
Contraindications to the use of Codipar
Contraindication to the use of Codipar are
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
- severe liver or kidney failure,
- alcoholism.
Codipar – warnings
Codipar warnings:
- Do not use in adults without a doctor’s recommendation for more than 10 days, in children – 3 days.
- The presence of paracetamol in other used preparations should be checked to avoid overdosing.
- Caution should be exercised by patients suffering from impaired liver or kidney function.
- People who suffer from asthma and are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid should also exercise caution.
- During treatment with the drug, alcohol should not be consumed (liver damage may occur, especially in people on a restrictive diet).
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women may use the drug only after medical consultation and in justified cases.
Codipar with other medications
The paracetamol contained in Codipar increases the effect of drugs:
- anticoagulants from the group of coumarin and indandion derivatives,
- salicylamide prolongs the elimination time of paracetamol,
- it is not recommended to use the drug simultaneously with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping treatment with these drugs (the possibility of agitation and high fever),
- taking substances that increase hepatic metabolism, such as rifampicin, antiepileptic drugs (phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine), some sleeping pills or alcohol consumption may cause toxic liver damage, even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol.
- the use of paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time increases the risk of renal dysfunction.
- metoclopramide accelerates and scopolamine delays the absorption of paracetamol from the gastrointestinal tract; caffeine enhances its analgesic effect.
- the use of paracetamol may affect the results of laboratory tests, e.g. blood glucose determination.
Codipar – side effects
- The following may occur: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, liver and / or kidney dysfunction, allergy: itching, urticaria, rash, erythema.
- Very rare: thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, methaemoglobinaemia.
