The popular White Russian cocktail is made from vodka with the addition of cream and coffee liqueur (usually Kahlua brand). The drink was invented by foreign bartenders. It is believed that it was christened in honor of the White Guard emigrants, who were called white russians abroad. Be that as it may, “White Russian” has taken root not only in American and European, but also in Russian cuisines. You can prepare a classic recipe and its variations at home.

Traditionally, a sweet alcoholic beverage is prepared with whipped cream. If you want to surprise your family and guests with “the same” classic recipe recorded in the collection of the International Bartenders Association back in 1965, take:

– ice (0,5 glasses); – vodka (50 ml); – Kahlua coffee liqueur (50 ml); – whipped cream (1 teaspoon).

Place crushed ice in an old-fashioned cocktail glass, pour in vodka, coffee liqueur and top with whipped cream. Do not stir the drink!

You can also use the later recipe “White Russian”, according to which the ingredients are taken in the following proportions: 50 ml of vodka, 30 ml of liqueur and 20 ml of cream, in this case they must first be whipped in a separate bowl.

Cocktail in a blender or shaker

Today, there are recipes for a sweet white cocktail that are blended using a blender. Many of them have also become classics. The basic principle of making an alcoholic drink is simple: all components are added to the blender bowl on crushed ice, then whipped together. Try this popular recipe for a strong “White Russian”. Prepare:

– vodka (5 parts); – Kahlua coffee liqueur (2 parts); – cream with a fat content of 11% (3 parts).

Crumble ice in a special grinder and put it in a blender bowl. Do not fill the container to the top, as the beverage expands during the whipping process. Pour in vodka, then coffee liqueur. Gently cover everything with cream and stir.

If you like to prepare a variety of cocktails, get a special device for mixing drinks – a shaker. It can be used to make a White Russian cocktail. For a lighter variation on the classic recipe, you need grated nuts – walnuts, hazelnuts, or peanuts. Take:

– ice (34 shakers and 0,5 glasses per serving); – vodka (1 part); – coffee liqueur (1 part); – cream (1 part); – chopped nuts (1 tablespoon).

Traditionally, bartenders replace some of the ingredients of the White Russian cocktail: cream – for goat’s milk, Baileys liqueur, skim milk or a drink made from almond milk “horshad”; Russian vodka – for rum

Fill a shaker with 34 ice, pour vodka, coffee liqueur, cream into it and, shaking vigorously, mix the cocktail ingredients for 5 minutes. After that, put fresh crushed ice into a glass and pour the drink from a shaker into it through a sieve. Garnish with “White Russian” on top with grated nuts.
