Sex on the beach is one of those cocktails that you will always find in the bar list of any establishment. It is prepared at parties, it occupies a leading position in the cocktail ratings. Why? Obviously, this popularity is justified solely by the name of the cocktail.
Indeed, the phrase “sex on the beach” causes especially pleasant thoughts. Otherwise, the cocktail is quite simple to prepare, there are no beautiful legends behind it (this is not a Margarita cocktail for you) and giving. In general, a simple, I would even say, an ordinary mixed drink.
Its history is obscure. In any case, it arose in the 70-80s of the last century, during the time of hippies, passionate parties on the beaches and other worldly joys. Initially, the cocktail was called “Sand in your shorts”, which literally translates as “Sand in your shorts” (exhaustive). Then for some time the cocktail was called “Fun on the Beach”, which means “Fun on the beach.” The word sex was avoided, which is understandable – in those days it was a taboo.
So, the cocktail sex on the beach has not the most intricate recipe, at least according to the IBA (International Baremen’s Association). It belongs to the POPULAR COCKTAILS category. Well, it is.
Cocktail recipe Sex on the beach
Ingredients:
- 40 ml of vodka;
- 20 ml peach liqueur;
- 40 ml cranberry juice;
- 40 ml of orange juice.
Preparation:
- Fill a highball with ice and pour in all the ingredients.
- mix gently with a bar spoon;
- garnish with an orange slice.
As you can see, nothing remarkable at all, you don’t even need to be smart with the cooking process. The ingredients are also simple: vodka is always at hand, as are juices, and peach liqueur can always be bought, there are even not expensive things, but I would advise De Kuyper Peach Tree (De Kuyper Peach Tree). Some people make a cocktail in a shaker, although I don’t understand why, because all the components are easily mixed.
There are a few more variations, but this is no longer a Sex on the Beach cocktail, this is folk art. In many establishments, peach juice is used instead of cranberry juice in order to pour less liquor. They color the cocktail with grenadine, and many bartenders shout to me and prove that grenadine is there by default. But I don’t believe them. Well, that’s probably all.
