Cocktail Concrete (Betonik) – Becherovka with tonic

Cocktail “Concrete” – a drink of light straw color with herbal notes and a slight astringency in taste. Due to the affordable composition and ease of preparation, it is considered a cocktail of youth parties. Another advantage of “Betonika” is that the fortress can be adjusted at your discretion.

Historical reference. Cocktail “Concrete” appeared in 1967 in the Czech Republic. The recipe was developed by technologists of the distillery in Karlovy Vary and is considered one of the official ways to drink Becherovka.

The name of the cocktail is made up of the first letters of the words “Becherovka” and “tonic”.

Composition and proportions:

  • Becherovka Original – 50 ml;
  • tonic – 100-250 ml;
  • lemon juice – 10-20 ml (optional);
  • lemon zest or a slice of fresh cucumber – for decoration.

The proportions of Becherovka with tonic can be any, the most common combinations are: 2-3 parts of tonic for one part of Becherovka. Lemon juice adds sour notes, resulting in a more balanced cocktail.

Cocktail recipe “Concrete”

1. Fill a tall hurricane or highball glass with ice.

2. If desired, cut half a lemon into thin slices and put in a glass.

3. Add Becherovka, tonic and lemon juice (optional).

4. Stir with a bar spoon.

5. Garnish with a slice of fresh cucumber or lemon zest. Serve the finished cocktail with a straw.
