Coaxil

Coaxil is a drug used in neurology to treat the symptoms of depressive syndromes. The preparation acts on the central nervous system, has antidepressant and anxiolytic properties. Coaxil is available as tablets and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Indications for the use of Coaxil

  1. Adults, orally, before meals: 12,5 mg three times a day.
  2. In people over 70 years of age or with renal insufficiency: 12,5 mg twice a day.

Coaxil and contraindications

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. the use of non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) in parallel or within the last 14 days,
  3. the preparation should not be used in children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Coaxil – warnings

  1. Particular caution is required during treatment with the drug in patients with depression and suicidal tendencies.
  2. If a patient needs to undergo general anesthesia, the anesthetist should be informed that he / she is taking tianeptine. It should be discontinued (after consulting a doctor) within 24-48 hours before the planned surgery.
  3. Coaxil should not be stopped suddenly. This should be under the supervision of a doctor for 7-14 days.
  4. Caution should be exercised in patients dependent on alcohol or drugs (do not exceed the recommended dose).
  5. Caoxil is not recommended for people under 18 years of age due to a lack of data on safety in this group of people.
  6. Coaxil may impair psychomotor performance in some people. Be careful when driving or operating machinery.
  7. It is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Coaxil – interactions

  1. Tianeptine should not be used with mianserin due to the antagonistic effects seen in animal models.
  2. Do not take Coaxil with MAO inhibitors due to the risk of cardiovascular collapse, paroxysmal hypertension, hyperthermia, seizures, death (tianeptine can be started 14 days after discontinuation of the MAO inhibitor. MAO inhibitor treatment can be started at least 24 hours after stopping the administration of tianeptine).
  3. Do not consume alcohol during treatment with Coaxil.
