Clostilbegyt is a prescription drug prescribed for women suffering from ovulation disorders. Due to its action, it is one of the elements of fertility treatment in women.

Clostilbegyt – action

The properties of Clostilbegyt are directly related to the presence of the active substance. Clomiphene contributes to the inhibition of the activation of hypothalamic estradiol receptors. This, in turn, results in an increased secretion of gonadotropic hormones, which has the effect of stimulating the growth and maturation of follicles.

Clostilbegyt – purpose and dosage

The Clostilbegit leaflet informs about the indications for the use of this drug. The preparation is intended for women diagnosed with infertility caused by anovulation.

Dosage

The dosage of Clostilbegyt is determined individually by the doctor. Treatment usually starts on day 5 of the cycle or any day if you have amenorrhea. It is recommended to take 1 tablet (50 mg) daily for 5 days. Ovulation should occur between day 11 and 15 of the cycle.

In case of failure, the dose can be doubled (100 mg) and taken from the 5th day of the cycle for the next 5 days.

The total dose in one cycle should not exceed 750 mg.

Clostilbegyt – contraindications to use

Clostilbegyt should not be used if:

  1. liver dysfunction,
  2. thyroid dysfunction,
  3. unexplained vaginal bleeding
  4. visual disturbances,
  5. primary pituitary gland hyperfunction,
  6. ovarian cysts,
  7. cancer of the ovary, breast, uterus.

The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding is also a contraindication.

Clostilbegyt – warnings

Warnings for taking Clostilbegyt:

  1. estrogen levels should be assessed before starting therapy,
  2. the treatment should be carried out only under the supervision of a doctor,
  3. clomiphene passes into milk,
  4. taking the preparation may be associated with the risk of the so-called ovarian hyperstimulation,
  5. after taking the drug, there is a greater risk of multiple pregnancy,
  6. long-term use of the preparation may increase the risk of ovarian cancer,
  7. Be careful when driving – the drug may cause blurry vision.

Clostilbegyt – drug interactions

Although there are no data on the interaction of Clostilbegit with other drugs, inform your doctor about all the preparations you take.

Clostilbegyt – side effects

If you use Clostilbegyt, the leaflet will indicate the possibility of certain side effects. Often possible, among others dizziness and headache, visual disturbances, fatigue, vomiting, breast pain. Depression, temporary hair loss and polyuria appear rarely.
