Clobederm is an ointment medicine used in dermatology and venereology. It has anti-exudative, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-itching properties.

Composition and action of the drug Clobederm

The active substance in Clobederma is clobetasol propionate, which has anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative, anti-allergic and relieving symptoms associated with skin inflammation, such as persistent and severe itching.

When is Clobederm used?

Clobederm is used to treat short-term acute and severe skin inflammations, especially those accompanied by itching and hyperkeratosis of the epidermis. Clobederm is not a drug of first choice – it is used when treatment with other glucocorticoid drugs has failed. Clobederm is used in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, erythema multiforme, discoid lupus erythematosus, lichen planus with severe pruritus, and for treatment of dandruff eczema.

Dosage of Clobederm

Clobederm is intended for external use on the skin. Diseased areas should be spread with a thin layer of cream, following the doctor’s instructions.

Contraindications to the use of Clobederm

Clobederm should not be used by patients who are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of the preparation. It must not be used in the case of systemic fungal or viral infections, acne vulgaris and rosacea, tuberculosis as well as viral, fungal and bacterial skin infections. Clobederm is not recommended for use in immunocompromised patients. The use of Clobederm may reduce the effectiveness of immunization. It is not recommended to use the preparation during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Clobederm must not be used under an occlusive dressing and in children under 12 years of age. It is not recommended for the treatment of itching in the anus and genitals.

Possible side effects of Clobederm

The use of Clobederm cream may cause unwanted side effects such as skin thinning, atrophy and stretch marks, dilation of blood vessels in the skin at the application site, dermatitis, skin discoloration and discoloration, burning and itching at the application site, acne and other inflammatory skin lesions. Excessive hair may also appear. Clobederm is absorbed through the skin and can cause iatrogenic diabetes, high blood pressure, hypokalaemia (excessively high levels of potassium in the blood), and kidney and adrenal gland disorders.

Precautions when taking Clobederm

When using Clobederm, special care should be taken when applying the product to areas where the skin is thin and delicate, for example the face, neck, cleavage, genitals and the backs of the feet and hands, as well as skin folds. Clobederm is not recommended for use for more than 2 weeks and on a large body surface. Clobederm cream is absorbed through the skin and may enhance the effects of immunosuppressants. Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking. The drug is not intended for children under 12 years of age. Before using Clobederm cream, check that the medicine has the current expiry date. The drug should be stored at room temperature, in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children. Clobederm has no influence on the ability to operate machinery and drive vehicles.
