Clematis – vines
Mountain clematis: growing
The cultivation of a mountain variety has some peculiarities. In cold climates, planting seedlings should be done in the spring. Then they will have time to take root and get stronger before the first frost. The soil should be light and nutritious. For vines, alkaline or neutral soil is suitable. High acidity will damage the root system. The plant is planted in a pit. It is alternately filled with several layers:
- drainage;
- sand;
- perlite;
- soil with the addition of fertilizers.
Humus and superphosphates can be used as fertilizers. It is undesirable to add peat and organic matter to the pit. It is necessary to prepare a place for planting in advance – in the fall. It is important to provide the plant with a strong and sufficiently high support.
For active flowering, vines require abundant watering. Mulching the top layer of the soil will help to retain moisture. Weeds are harmful to clematis. It is necessary to regularly loosen and weed the soil. To extend the flowering period, you need to regularly feed. You can use chalk, lime, or universal fertilizers. Vines do not need pruning.
Clematis are grown to decorate the site. They can decorate hedges and facades of houses, and can be used as ground cover vegetation. Any climate and minimal maintenance are suitable for growing them.
