Description of clematis Honora
The beautiful Clematis Honora is a large-flowered species, its homeland is New Zealand. It is a hybrid of Gipsy Queen, therefore it received the best characteristics of a relative. Shrub climbing plant reaches a height of three meters. On the branches of the vine are large dark green leaves.
It is easy to recognize Honor’s clematis by its flowers. With proper care, huge buds in diameter reach 15 cm. Petals with wavy decorative edges are painted in a rich purple hue, turning into purple. Around the miniature pistil are short fluffy stamens.

In order to maintain the beauty of a weaving plant at home, it is necessary to properly organize the shortening of the shoots. Representatives of culture are divided into three types of branching, each of which needs an individual approach. Pruning of branches stimulates the formation of vines, positively affects the development of roots.
The Clematis Honora variety, like the mother plant Gipsy Queen, actively branches, therefore it belongs to the 3rd group. The culture forms inflorescences only on young shoots of the current year. The lashes are cut almost to ground level, bushes with 4 internodes, 20 to 50 cm long, are left above the surface. The procedure is carried out in the fall, from October to November.
Planting and caring for Clematis Honora
Liana prefers to grow in fertile sandy, loamy soil with a low acid and alkaline reaction. Clematis Honora grows well in both full sun and partial shade. Areas with a close occurrence of groundwater, not protected from drafts and near the house are contraindicated. The recommended distance from buildings, trees is 30 cm.
Planting a seedling of clematis Honor is carried out in autumn and spring. Dig a hole in advance according to the scheme 60 * 60 * 60 cm, sprinkle with a thick layer of drainage (at least 15 cm) from expanded clay or broken bricks on top. At the bottom add a mixture of:
- compost;
- sand;
- peat.
