Wool in the corners, traces of dirty paws on the carpet or even “marks” with a specific smell… Our beloved pets, like ourselves, contribute to the pollution of the apartment. But a few simple life hacks will help the owners quickly and easily clean up.
Pets bring us joy and happiness. Scientists believe that pets reduce anxiety and also strengthen the nervous system. But this certainly does not happen at the moment when we start cleaning and realize that there is too much dirt from our beloved cat or dog.
We solved this problem and put together 5 useful cleaning tips.
1. Dealing with wool
- To remove animal hair from textile surfaces, use a perforated rubber glove, a special rubber clothes brush or a slightly damp microfibre cloth.
- Wool from curtains and curtains is perfectly removed with a microfiber cloth dipped in a solution of fabric softener.
- It is not always possible to remove hair from clothes with a sticky roller; moreover, replaceable blocks from it usually end at the most unexpected moment. In this case, you should use another quick method: you need to sprinkle a small towel with hairspray, let it dry and clean the clothes with light movements along the pile of the product.
2. Correctly wash the floor
A regular wet mop (special reusable floor mop) may not be enough. We recommend adding one or two caps of fabric softener to warm water – this will help to wash the wool off the floor faster and better. Mop strokes should be short, strong and unidirectional, and the mop head should be rinsed more frequently.
Important! Do not add more than half a cap of conditioner to a bucket of water, otherwise the floor will remain stained, and after drying it will be sticky.
3. Clean up the bathroom
- To remove animal paw marks from sanitary ware (ceramic material from which sinks and bathtubs are made), apply a thin layer of any cleaning agent to the stains, wait three to five minutes, then wipe the stains with a sponge or soft cloth and rinse with plenty of water.
- If there is suddenly no cleaning products in the house, apply toothpaste (the size of a pea) on the stain, gently spread it over the entire pollution parameter, wait three to five minutes, then follow the same scenario as described above.
4. Eliminate the smell
“Marks” in the most inappropriate places is one of the most common problems in apartments where cats and dogs live. There are many ways to eliminate the pungent odor on the Internet, stores abound with a large number of anti-odor products, but in reality, almost nothing works, and the furry tenants return to their favorite place again and again.
Tips for cat owners
- Cover the stain with soda, wait, then remove with a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth.
- Rinse the problem area with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, leave to dry completely. This method is good for hard surfaces.
- To remove stains from the carpet, it is also recommended to cover the problem area with soda, and then spray it with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, liquid dishwashing detergent and water (respectively 100 ml × 1 teaspoon × half a glass). Wait until completely dry, remove the residue with a vacuum cleaner.
Important! Do not use bleach in such situations. Cats like her smell, so they will come back to the “crime scene” later.
Tips for dog owners
- The main rule is not to leave permanent stains on sofas, carpets and other places. Otherwise, they are almost impossible to remove and it is unlikely that even a cleaning company can handle it. Fresh stains are much easier to remove. To do this, you first need to remove moisture with dry wipes. You can thickly fill the area with soda, rub it into the stain, vacuum it after an hour.
- To remove the smell, the best practical advice is to mix the juice of one lemon with two teaspoons of water and shake. It is recommended to treat surfaces with a sprayer.
5. We love our pet
We have given some practical tips to help you clean the apartment where the furry creature lives. Yes, they can be a lot of dirt, wool can be in all corners, and some can’t get rid of the habit of marking territory … But love always remains the main rule. After all, the animal loves us unconditionally, so why not reciprocate? Then the cleaning process will no longer be so tiring.
