Citotrop – composition and action

Citotrop is a dietary supplement that supports the maintenance of the proper functioning of the nervous system. The main ingredient and active ingredient of Citotrop is citicoline, which is a naturally occurring, endogenous phosphatidylcholine precursor. Phosphatidylcholine is the basic building block of phospholipids in cell membranes. Citicoline undergoes hydrolysis to obtain cytidine and choline. These compounds easily penetrate the blood-brain barrier and affect the synthesis and reconstruction of nerve cell membranes. Citicoline has a positive effect on the proper functioning of the brain. It has a stimulating effect on the nervous system and improves cognitive abilities. The excipients in the Citotrop supplement are magnesium stearate, calcium hydrogen phosphate, gelatin and titanium dioxide.

Citotrop – indications and contraindications

The indication for the use of the Citotrop supplement is to support the proper functioning of the nervous system. The use of Citotrop is recommended in cases of cognitive impairment, senile dementia, difficulties in remembering data, complications after stroke and trauma, as well as in the course of neurological diseases of vascular origin. Taking Citotrop is indicated for choline supplementation as well as for supporting the work and functioning of the brain. Unfortunately, not every patient can use the Citotrop supplement without fear. Hypersensitivity to any component of the supplement is a contraindication to the use of Citotrop. If any side effects occur while using the drug, stop the treatment immediately and consult a doctor. Citotrop is not a drug indicated for pregnant and breastfeeding women. However, there are no contraindications for using it in children.

How to properly dose and store Citotrop?

The Citotrop dietary supplement is available in pharmacies in tablet form. The package usually contains 30 tablets. An average of PLN 26 to PLN 30 is paid for one package of Citotrop. The drug is taken orally. The dosage of Citotrop is always determined by the doctor. According to the instructions in the package leaflet, adults should use one or two capsules a day with a sufficient amount of water. The supplement can also be dissolved in approx. 50 ml of warm water. The mixture prepared in this way should be drunk immediately after preparation. You should not exceed the recommended daily dose, because it will not speed up the action of the drug, and may only harm the patient’s health. Citotrope cannot be used as a substitute for a varied diet. Equally important in treatment are: a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Citotrop should be kept out of the reach of children. It should be stored at a temperature of 15-25 degrees Celsius, in a dry place that is not directly accessible by light and sun rays.
