Indications for use of the drug Citabax
The active substance in Citabax is citalopram, an antidepressant medicine. It is used to treat depression and anxiety disorders with anxiety attacks, with or without agoraphobia. Citabax is also administered prophylactically in relapses of depressive disorders.
Dosage of Citabax
- For the treatment of depression: the usual dose is 20 mg daily. If necessary, your doctor may decide to increase the dose to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
- To treat anxiety disorder: Treatment usually starts with 10 mg a day for the first week. After that, your doctor will usually increase the dose to 20 mg per day. The maximum dose is 40 mg a day, the doctor selects the dose depending on the patient’s response.
Citabax and contraindications and warnings
- The preparation is not used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
- Contraindications to the use of Citabax are: hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, prolonged QT interval or congenital long QT syndrome, simultaneous use of other drugs that may prolong the QT interval, pimozide and MAO inhibitors (including selegiline in a dose greater than 10 mg / day) ).
- Treatment with citalopram can be started 14 days after discontinuation of the irreversible MAO inhibitor or after the time specified in the drug material for a reversible MAO inhibitor. MAO inhibitors may be initiated 7 days after discontinuation of citalopram.
- The concomitant use of citalopram with linezolid is contraindicated unless close patient observation and blood pressure monitoring are possible.
