Circular references in Excel: Find and fix

Before we start looking for circular references in Excel tables, let’s figure out what it is.

Circular references occur in formulas in which a cell refers to other cells, which in turn can refer to others, etc., and as a result, it turns out that the initial cell (in which the formula), through a chain of references to other cells, refers to herself.

Sometimes users purposefully use a similar scheme to perform certain calculations. However, most often, such situations are the result of an error in the formula, most likely made by users accidentally or due to ignorance of the specifics of working in the program.

Therefore, it is very important to be able to find and eliminate circular references, especially in a document received from another user who can make such mistakes.
